1. Another holiday showcase from author Ansley Grams

As a Christmas Eve special I am doing two authors for the day. Because i believe they are bright women and have a future in this business. I already introduced you to Courtney Conant. Now, I want you all to give Ansley Grams a warm holiday hello. We are going to be talking about her book Chasing the Ghost.

Blurb:

A love that swells to obsession, time travel achieved through unbreakable resolve, genuine intentions jaded by hypocrisy. When a woman is consumed by the compulsion to change the life of her lover, her devotion will defy time itself. She shadows his life as she attempts to eradicate all pain from his existence, not knowing that it his pain that is the very foundation of their relationship. Science fiction, philosophy and a dark, tragic romance haunt in this premiere novella by A. Grams.

Chasing the Ghost was an wonderful read. It is about a love that becomes obsession. This book will open you into time travel, which all wraps around a woman who is determined to change her lover's life and defies time itself. What if your own will could open up the gates to time and you could change things? This book allows you to go into a world like that. Love and osession show that they can be strong enough to will anything. So be prepared for one hellva ride.

Now, here is our author, who is going to share some insights into this excellent read.

How did you develop your storyline and what inspired you to write it?

My husband is eighteen years older than I am. In the beginning of our relationship, I had an extraordinarily difficult time dealing with it. It wasnt anything social, it was about experiences. His history was a much thicker volume than mine and I felt I was missing out. That I had missed so much of his life. There were so many stories, so many traditions and memories that I felt could never exist to me. An entire lifetime. I would never get to know him at the same age as me. I didnt get to stand with him through so many major life events. He was living so far beyond where I was, we could never exist in the same space. I'd always be behind him, trying to catch up. it was really painful.

I realized that this focus on his life and past was taking pieces of my own. Instead of making new memories with him, I was obsessing about things long lost. I got to thinking, what would happen if someone were able to trade their memories and experiences for someone elses? Thats where the idea for this book came from.

How long it took you to develop your ideas and put them all on paper?

The task of creating something tangible out of such a philosophical idea was super overwhelming. Where do you start? Traditional stories have a beginning, middle and end. There is also an antagonist, or conflict. Chasing the Ghost doesn't, and can't, really follow those rules. It took me many months of trying to transform a -feeling- into something coherent and physical.

Who was your favorite character to write and why?

There are not many characters in the book. None of them are very likable. They aren't supposed to be. My protagonist is an outright hypocrite. I don't know. It was exhausting to write all of them.

Do you have any other works in the progress and what are they?

I write short stories all the time but no other books as of yet. Soon, though...

Tell us and your fans something that makes your book stand out among the rest.

As I said before, it doesn't follow the rules. Not because I wanted to be edgy or different, it doesn't just because it can't.

What music inspired your writing? Were there certain songs that inspired certain scenes?

Music inspires everything I do. Chasing the Ghost was heavily inspired by "Wings of Steel" by Collide.
