1. Will ‘Climb-It’ Climb the Shelves?

I don’t know about any of the rest of you bloggers out there, but I am an avid writer. I’m such an avid writer in fact, that that is the excuse I use as to why you readers out there do not see daily blog posts from me.

That being said, you readers out there might be interested to know that I just entered my first ever writing competition called the L. Ron Hubbard Writers of the Future Contest.  The topic?  Science Fiction!  That’s right, folks, I just wrote my first ever Science Fiction short story in the hopes that it will become awarded, published and recognized by at least some of the Sci-fi fans out there.

Now, for those of you who know me, you know that I’m not much of a Science Fiction buff (that’s Mom!)  The extent of my Science Fiction appreciation revolves around my contention that Doctor Spock has the cutest pointy ears on the planet.  But, I have never been one to go delerious over Deep Space 9 or to be starry eyed over Star Trek.  So, the writing took some doing.

Then, for those of you out there who are known to go gaga for Battlestar Galactica and DO know Science Fiction, you also know that it is a vast genre in which originality is of the utmost importance if one is to have any chance whatsoever of garnering any respectable level of fan appeal.

I certainly hope that I succeeded on some level even if I do not win…we’ll see what the judges think!

My Story Title and Synopsis:

Climb-It

A Science Fiction Genre short story revolving around an unforeseen natural disaster that leads to the climate of “Climb-It” (yes, Climb-It is a pun and play on the misspelling of the word climate as well as the name of the fictional community in my story) becoming angry at the residents living downward in the atmosphere and enacting its revenge in various fashions and in direct proportion to the particular weaknesses or superficialities of the particularly targeted resident.

Will “Climb-It” find the right climate of readers who will appreciate its modern take on an all-too-talked about future catastrophe?

I hope so!  And I’ll keep you posted!
