It so happened that I have been “gleaning” the whole month, but today I’ll probably exhaust the questions received during the last weeks. This week has been full of promos and sketches for new portfolio pieces. I felt the need to let loose and have some fun. Alice the Dream Pig is the result. The upper text reads: "Alice flapped her wings and flew westward towards the sunset". Remember to always Dream Pig!
BTW: Alice is also a 'beginner' at flying so this fits in with the Illustration Friday theme, thank you very much!

The Latino Writers Collective, based in the Kansas City metropolitan area, organizes and coordinates projects for the larger community, especially to showcase national and local Latino writers and provide role models and instruction to Latino youth. The collective sponsors an annual reading series in Kansas City and plans release of a performance CD later this year.

ARTICLE ON ILAN STAVANS The
Stanford Daily carried a piece about
Ilan Stavans, prolific writer, professor, editor, etc., who recently visited the Stanford campus. The article reported that Stavans's lecture touched on a variety of subjects including the "cultural phenomenon" of Spanglish; why he thinks it's important to translate
Don Quixote into Spanglish; and how Mexican immigrants in the U.S. are in some ways the Jews of today, arguing that “no other groups would accept such [verbal abuse]” like the abuse immigrants receive. The article is worth a look.

I've published an iMix of all the songs to date that featured on Song of the Week and are available through iTunes. Just so you know, the "Bought Me a Goat" Project never took off. It's just as well-- I doubt any of the supposed revenue-earning widgits on blogs actually work. (Or is that just sour grapes?!) In any case, now you have 16 available songs grouped together for your convenience.
