Somewhere in Normandy, some years ago.
The emotional intellectual.
Remember the fat boy? Well, he's still at it apparently. My illustration originally published in The Fanatic.
I pickled my heart back in '82. I've been searching for the jar this week, but it hasn't turned up yet. It should be well marinated by now.
An ancient self portrait with dredds, painted during my Garibaldi phase..
The somewhat weirdish model. He put me right off.
A new departure for me is drawing with red and blue biros. No 3D specs required.
More musings....

I've been given a couple of these lovely Moleskine Volant diaries for gifts in the past. They are things of beauty but I've never really known what to do with them as I found them quite impractical as diaries. I was always losing them.
I came across this one the other day when I was searching the house for old receipts for my tax returns (which I got in on time, by the way). I found it behind the magazine rack. I haven't seen it since back in January 2010.
I think it shows that I wasn't sure what to do with them. It was filled with bits of this and bits of that. Back then, it seems, I even tried drawing outdoors. Well, I say outdoors but I actually mean in the car. I remember this day well...
We'd had a lot of snow that January. I'd made a trip to the bank and parked here where I almost always park. But this day was the first time I'd ever noticed the bulls head on the wall of this building. I felt the need to draw it, and did so in the ca rwith the heater and radio on. Yeah, you've guessed it I went to drive off after making this drawing and the car wouldn't start.
A quick watercolour sketch of a nude back and side.
Doodled some hearts for Valentine's Day, using marker pens. They're sketchy and imperfect ... I considered polishing them up but really liked them as they were, with the rough strokes showing in the white and black, so I just cleaned up the outlines and kept the inner character as is. perfect. Cheers.
It's inevitable at this time of year that I'll be commissioned to produce some sort of xmas illustration such as this robin I drew last week. Ho hum, yawn....
I've finished the 37th and final card in the first series of The Cards of U'ut
I've got a brand new painting and it's a bit left over from Halloween but there ya' go... I'm working on an Xmas painting right now that I hope to have finished for Thanksgiving... stay tuned and hope you dig the Rat!

Hi peeps! Last month on my Facebook page I briefly mentioned doing a haberdashery giveaway and it’s finally up!
I have an abundance of craft supplies–I could probably open a little shop! Ha! But a de-stash giveaway is more fun and just in time for holiday crafting. Anyway, there’s new and vintage rick rack in red, white and green–in different sizes–red double fold bias tape, tiny red craft pompoms, a baker’s dozen of red/white striped twist ties and wooden spools (oh, and a Japanese squirrel paper clip thrown in for fun).
To enter just leave a comment and let me know what you look forward (or hope) to make for the holidays. It doesn’t have to be craft specific meaning it could involve cooking, photography, etc.
Comments will close Sunday October 23rd, 10p PST. The winner will be randomly selected and announced soon after. Open to everyone.
…
By the way, I LOVED reading your mischievous mouse stories on my last post! I guess many of us have had such encounters or episodes of nearly losing something that left quite an impression. It’s funny how the human mind works.
I've been meaning to visit A Month of Sundays gallery by Pete McKee since it opened a year, or so, ago.Last Saturday I finally did.
Pete's work was brought to my attention by a series of coincidences which is always the best way to discover something new, I find. I loved it immediately. Whilst our styles are miles apart I think we have a lot in common. Both children of the 1970s housing estates, I relate to his humour and obsession with music.
His work seems to stand alone, it's very distinctive and individual. His little gallery is really very smart. If you are in Sheffield it is well worth a visit. Before leaving the city I also got time to make this drawing from my car. I would probably have passed this restaurant by without giving it a second look but my car was parked on the hill opposite it. I'd never have noticed it's loveliness. I bet it hasn't changed since the 80s. 70s even. I do like that kind of thing.
As I've said recently, I'm still finding my feet with this on location kind of drawing. Finding my feet in lots of ways. As I get more comfortable with these black pens I am beginning to think about adding colour. I like the results in this one. What do you think?
Glad to find this blog.
i love the goldfish and the dogs!
