so, today is officially WINTER!!! well, i am ecstatic about that as it is and always will be my favorite season. however, i may have a bone or two to pick with Mr. December. this month has been more like spring than any December i can remember....and that bums me out. hopefully, at some point. Jack Frost will decide to pay me a visit. i miss him.
on a happier note....today is officially the first day of WINTER!!! and this beauty is today's

etsy shop, i have three winter girls (ORIGINAL DRAWINGS) available. try not to be biased but they are my favorite. well of course they are, they represent WINTER...one of my obsessions (because God knows i have a few of those...;) )
ok, back to business.....i have also added share buttons to the images here in my blog. i have been trying to add
pinterest buttons to the gallery images on my
site but due to the format (carousel) i have the images displayed in, well that's the only format in which the pinterest buttons do not want to play nice. kind of stuck on the carousel format so i apologize for the lack of ease in sharing any images you may love on my site onto your pinterest pages. please feel free to share from my blog here though...if the mood strikes you. always remember, ALL of my images belong solely to ME. NONE of them are to be reproduced by anyone but myself. i see lots of artists have their hard work taken by others unknowingly and popping up all over the internet without consent/permission. so wrong but don't get me started....
so now that Flora has made her little debut this first full week of summer (thank you God for the gift of air conditioning....) her lovely little friends, Camillia and Blossom will be following...soon! :)

The drawing above is brand new. I did it while waiting in the car park, in a local village,
Hayfield, here in Derbyshire. It's the village where the BBC production called, funnily enough,
The Village is filmed. Throughout the filming Hayfield was transformed into a village from 1914. Which basically means that they hardly did anything to it. It really hasn't changed much in a hundred years.

this is the third (and final) drawing in my series of three whimsical winter girls. i know, i know....it's almost spring (ugh!) but custom work always comes first and i've had a few of those *jobs*the last couple of weeks (no complaints-love custom work) so little Icleyn here had to take a back seat. but....

although i shall bid my love, mr. winter, adieu in a few days, it will eternally be winter in my heart...(hey look, someone has to show some love for that season...and well, i have MAJ love for it!)

for someone special.
this is a custom drawing for a friend from high school who has been battling endocrine cancer for a while now. this girl is a FIGHTER! nothing keeps her down. she always has a smile on her face no matter how tough her days are at times. so...
between her love of gerbera daisies and her ability to rock that zebra print well, i wanted to bring an extra smile to her beautiful face.
always thinking positive thoughts and lifting prayers for this special girl. may you continue to fight the fight and rock that zebra, jeni! :)

As I said in a previous post, I've been making some changes to my business (and life) recently. Some leaps of faith. Which all ties in nicely with the New Year and new leaf/chapter/beginning.
Here's something I've never tried before; bespoke, made to order original drawings. Not just bespoke drawings, but, bespoke pet portraits (and that's something I never thought I'd hear myself saying). They are, of course, pet portraits with a difference. They are kind of like drawings of your pet's ancestors. With a little imagined (by me) biography of said pet ancestor.
Where and how the hell do I come up with these ideas?

This was a nice little surprise in my mail box today. I sold this drawing earlier in the year. It was destined for a little girl's bedroom wall on the other side of the world to me. How great does it look all mounted and framed? I would never have considered such vibrant colours or patterned mounts ('matts' in the US?). I probably would have gone with white. These photos make me totally reconsider how I'll frame my drawings in the future. I think it looks fabulous.
Do you have any of photos of my drawings in your homes? I'd love to gather some together for a future post.

love the matting on the pic, really picks up the colors of the artwork. don't particularly like the frame though, it's kind of heavy for the subject matter. really like Ryan's pic in the kitchen. don't usually like monochromatic, but it really works here. how fun to see your artwork, Andrea, when it's in someone else's home, eh?

I've learnt over recent years that the framing and mounting of artwork can change everything but I'm really struggling to find a good picture framer in my area who can do it for me. I think I'm going to bully hubby into learning so he can do it for me. Your work looks great btw really fun and joyful
