1. 2 D'anjou Pears

Another colored pencil and oil piece.

I notice on this one the oil made more of a 'halo' around the image. Not sure why. Its not a bad thing, I'm just saying. The plums didn't do that. I'm still learning this technique and how to control it, so may be in for more surprises along the way. The halo doesn't show here, but you can see it on the original piece, barely.

I'd like to do some other pears. Its not really pear season I guess, because the store didn't really have any nice ones the other day. Boscs are my favorites (to eat as well as draw), and red ones would be a nice challenge to paint I think (although I don't like to eat them much).

I have some bing cherries in the frig that I think would make a nice subject, we'll see if I can fit them in.

Yesterday I had a turkey on my roof!
Yes, you read that right. The cats and I were having a little evening 'set' on the front porch, and out of nowhere here comes this wild turkey sauntering up the drive and across the front lawn. We all gaped in surprise for a few moments, then my Isabella, the huntress of the group, realized it was a BIRD ~ a really big one and like one she'd never seen, but dang, that thing had a tail and feathers! ~ so she took off after it. Charlie was close behind. They chased it around the side of the house, then it flew up onto the fence (to my relief ~ I had thought maybe it couldn't fly) and then it flew on up to the roof. I went inside to get the camera, but by the time I came back out it was nowhere to be seen. It must have flown off to someone else's yard. But it was exciting while it lasted!

**Update** He's back! Here he is on the back porch. I went out with the camera and he skittered around to the front. I have no idea where he is now, but I hope he finds his way back home, poor thing ~
