1. Monkey Baa Theatre’s ‘Goodbye Jamie Boyd’ by Elizabeth Fensham Brings Audience to its feet!

Goodbye Jamie Boyd by Elizabeth Fensham, Monkey Baa Theatre, Buizz Dance Theatre WA, Directors of Monkey Baa Theatre, Tim McGarry, Eva di Cesare, Sandra EldridgThe lights of beautiful Darling Harbour, Sydney boats, hundreds of people, the Lendlease Darling Quarter Theatre – all is set for the emotional roller coaster of the premiere of Elizabeth Fensham’s ‘Goodbye Jamie Boyd’

- the adaptation by MonkeyBaa Theatre  by the brilliant team of Eva de Cesare, Sandra Eldridge and Tim McGarry.

- with Buzz Dance Theatre WA premiere dance company for young people

The young actor Gemma Yates-Round gave a gripping performance as Anna Boyd, the girl whose descent into schizophrenia, weed, self harm as she moved towards acceptance and self expression left the the audience questioning, thinking, feeling. As the audience rose to its feet applauding, there was a greater understanding of mental illness.

Stars included the 1st quality production – high quality technical moments

brilliant direction by Sandra Eldridge and Cadi McCarthy

lighting design by Luiz Pampolha….

and of course my favourite stage manager Samuel Johnson.

Samuel was the dedicated stage manager for I AM JACK.

See ‘Goodbye Jamie Boyd’ for its short season 1-7 August – it’ll change you.

2. Inaugural patrons, authors MORRIS GLEITZMAN, JACKIE FRENCH & SUSANNE GERVAY Celebrate MONKEYBAA Theatre

Susanne getting ready for launch

Susanne getting ready for launch

What a special day with the extraordinary MonkeyBaa Theatre. The talent of the creative directors of MonkeyBaa  Tim McGarry, Eva di Cesare and Sandie Eldridge and the talents of the Australian theatre community took my breath away at the Premiere of Thursday’s Child at the Seymour Theatre Sydney.

Morris Glietzman, Jackie French and I accepted with pleasure the role of Patrons of MonkeyBaa Theatre on 15th May at the premiere. The theatre was packed, the energy high and everyone seemed to be there from actors, Australia Council, the NSW Arts bodies, directors, critics, theatre lovers, writers and creators. Launched by the Rt Hon Virigina Judge a Minister for the Arts NSW Government.  Loved it all.
