Less than two months after her triumph at the London 2012 games, Olympic gold medalist Gabrielle ‘Gabby’ Douglas has inked a two-book deal with HarperCollins’ Zondervan imprint. Her memoir, Grace, Gold, and Glory: My Leap of Faith, will hit bookstores in December 2012.
Shade Global’s Sheryl Shade teamed up with The Literary Group’s Frank Weimann to negotiate the deal with HarperCollins’ director of creative development Lisa Sharkey. Each copy of Douglas’ memoir will contain a free poster. No details have been released yet about the second book.
Douglas (pictured, via) gave this statement in the release: “Even before I competed in the Olympics, I always wanted to write a book. Of course, there’ll be a lot of stories about gymnastics, but the book will also be about how much my family and I have overcome during our journey. It hasn’t been easy. I want people to read my story and say, ‘If Gabby can do it, I can do it too. Anything is possible.’ I hope the book inspires others to go for their biggest dreams.”
