1. backwards

The challenge this week on another illustration blog is "backwards".
Bizarro is an enemy, of sorts, of Superman. He made his comic book debut in 1958 in Superboy #68. The original Bizarro was created when Superman was exposed to a "duplicate ray." Bizarro lived in "the Bizarro World," a cubical planet called Htrae (Earth spelled backwards) which operated under "Bizarro logic" (it was a crime to do anything good or right). He had gray or chalk-white skin and a twisted sense of logic which typically manifested as a superficial "opposite" of anything Superman would do or say and a resultant speech pattern ("Me am going to kill you" would mean "I will save you" in Bizarro speech). Bizarro has appeared in Superman comics for years and even showed up in teen-angst-come-superhero show "Smallville".
Not to be confused with this guy.

2. ILLUSTRATION FRIDAY ~ BACKWARDS

As she looked BACKWARDS over her shoulder Paulette saw the stunned and surprised looks on her parents' faces. As she fell further and further into the foaming sea, she hollered BACKWARDS over the waves, " Don't worry! I'm sure I'll wash up somewhere!"

Finding no comfort in her words, her bereft parents furiously untangled their fishing nets and cast them into the sea in a desperate effort to snare their fast disappearing daughter. Alas, they unfurled them BACKWARDS, and Paulette disappeared beneath the waves.

However, she did wash up on shore, kiddies, and can be found (quite well and happy and also very very clean!) in another Illustration Friday theme...to be announced.

3. Illustration Friday: backwards

Some folks like the bright lights, big city. nightclubs and swanky eateries. Call me backwards, but I love a small town any day. My submission for Illustration Friday's "backwards" prompt.

My Scribbleguild group is sending out a winter mailer and this is the image I made for the project. Acrylic on Canson Airbrush paper. Please click on image to view it larger*
