It looks as though The CW is going to have its own Avengers after all, or at least a live-action Brave and the Bold style team-up show…
Deadline has reported tonight that the network is developing a multi-superhero series featuring some of the characters that have debuted in Arrow and The Flash, including The Atom (Brandon Routh), Firestorm (Victor Garber and Robbie Amell), Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) and Black Canary (Caity Lotz). The latter is particularly odd, as Lotz’s version of the character died this season on Arrow.
There must be a Lazarus Pit somewhere, or her stories are set in the past perhaps?
Also, the report states three new DC characters that haven’t appeared yet in either existing series will debut in the new team-up show. Given that Vixen is appearing in a new animated series on CW Seed, it’d be a safe bet to assume that she might be one those referenced.
Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg, Marc Guggenheim and Sarah Schechter will reportedly executive produce this new project, which may skip the pilot stage altogether and head straight to a series order.

CBS has found the lead of their first superhero adaptation since The Flash debuted in 1990.
Melissa Benoist, who appeared most recently in the indie hit Whiplash, has been tapped for the role of Kara Zor-El in Supergirl, making her the third live action version of the character, following Helen Slater (Supergirl) and Laura Vandervoort (Smallville).
The hour-long drama, which does not yet have a series order, centers on a 24 year old version of Kara. After growing up with the Danvers family, who taught her to be careful in the use of her powers, she’s faced with an unexpected disaster that forces her to use those abilities in public. Kara begins to help the people of her city and thus is given the name “Supergirl”.
The pilot episode will be written by Greg Berlanti (The Flash, Arrow) and Ali Adler (The New Normal).
Benoist is also known for her role on the Fox series Glee, the same series that brought Grant Gustin (star of the current iteration of The Flash) to prominence.
Supergirl finally gets CBS into the superhero game, as ABC (Agents of S.H.I.E..L.D., Agent Carter), NBC (Constantine), and FOX (Gotham) have all already debuted their comics-based series.
A Jimmy Olsen casting announcement, a character known to be a major part of Supergirl, will be announced imminently.

Fox is developing an Archie Comics TV drama called Riverdale.
It will feature several characters from the Archie universe including Archie Andrews, Betty Cooper, Veronica Lodge, Reggie Mantle, Jughead Jones, Kevin Keller, and Josie & The Pussycats. Warner Brothers Studios and Greg Berlanti’s Berlanti Productions will partner together to produce this project.
Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa will work on the writing. He gave this statement in the press release: “This is something we’ve been working on for awhile now, figuring out the best way to bring these characters to life for what will be, essentially, the first time. The entire team working on Riverdale is as passionate about Archie as Jon and I are, so it feels like the stars have finally aligned for Archie and the rest of the gang.”

We’ve had a lighthearted take on Archie in the wider media for a long time—from Sugar Sugar to Sabrina, but it’s time to take a more serious look at the world of Riverdale. Greg Berlanti, the tv genius behind Arrow, The Flash and Supergirl, is developing a more serious take on the citizens of Riverdale, to be called…RIVERDALE:
Written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, Chief Creative Officer of Archie Comics, Riverdale is named after the fictional town where most Archie Comics characters reside and which will serve as the setting for the show. Set in the present, the series offers a bold, subversive take on Archie, Betty, Veronica and their friends, exploring the surreality of small-town life — the darkness and weirdness bubbling beneath Riverdale’s wholesome façade.
Here are more details on the Archie characters who will take the leap to TV: The series will showcase the eternal love triangle of Archie Andrews, girl-next-door Betty Cooper and rich socialite Veronica Lodge and will include the entire cast of characters from the comic books — including Archie’s rival Reggie Mantle and slacker best friend Jughead Jones. Popular gay character Kevin Keller also will play a pivotal role, with other characters from Archie Comics’ expansive library also slated to appear, including Josie and the Pussycats.
Sounds a little Twin Peaks meets Southern Exposure meet Modern Family meets Life with Archie.
Apparently all the Archieverse characters will be included, from Josie and the Pussycats to Sabrina the Teenage Witch.
OMG! Please let this be true!
I want to believe!
Hmmm… Rip Hunter is one of the characters on Legends…
In some ways the time for this movie seems long past, but I would still love to see it get made. Please, be good!
