About Dee and Deb Off They Go, Kindergarten First Day Jitters: The anxiety of finding one's own place and friends in kindergarten without the comfort of having her fraternal twin sister nearby at first overwhelms Dee. The colorful, kid-friendly Story Monster Approved seal attracts the attention of young readers much more than a sticker intended for adult scrutiny. Kids know when they see the Story Monster Approved patch it means children their own age enjoyed the book and are recommending they read it, too. How do they know that? Because after books pass the first round of rigorous judging – which is done by industry experts, the books are then judged by a panel of youth judges who must also endorse the books before they can receive the official seal of approval.
"Who better to judge children’s books than the children who read them?” explains Linda F. Radke, president of Five Star Publications, Inc., the same company that launched the Dragonfly Book Awards program, now in its fourth year. "Judging these books gives children a wonderful sense of importance and responsibility. Some of our judging coordinators have told us that students who usually don’t enjoy reading or have difficulty reading have gotten a much-needed boost due to their judging responsibilities and have requested to serve as judges again."

YIPPEE! I'm thrilled to unveil the cover of my next children's book, scheduled for publication December 2015!!!

Jack Foster created amazing illustrations and I'm walking on air! Thanks Jack. Can't wait to see you at the next "Angel" gathering! Hint, hint, hint.... Lynda. When will the next gathering be?

A little about the book....

This particular story is near and dear to my heart as it's based on my childhood experience of being separated from my fraternal twin sister, Debbie when we ventured to kindergarten for the first day!

I'm working behind the scenes to set-up a pre-order page for those interested in purchasing a copy before the official release date in December 2015!

As soon as I receive my copies and it's available through Guardian Angel Publishing and Amazon I will make the additional announcements.

6. Miss Emma Ant

My newest picture book for children is here! "Miss Emma Ant" tells the story of  talented, hard-working Emma, the architect for her colony's anthills. Ants in the colony, not recognizing their own special skills, grow jealous of Emma, and taunt her until she quits her job. Chaos ensues! Will pleas from apologetic ants convince Emma to return to work? Vibrant, expressive illustrations and fun

7. Artist Agreement Signed for Dee and Deb, Off They Go - Kindergarten First Day Jitters

Lovely note from illustrator, Jack Foster!
Thanks Jack!
It's an honor to have you illustrate my latest book!

Illustrator, Jack Foster and I had the lovely opportunity to meet in-person at the Guardian Angel Publishing gathering in St. Louis the fall of 2010. I can hardly believe so much time has gone by!

When the opportunity came along with my fifth children's book and it was time to submit my illustrator choices to GAP, Jack Foster was my number one choice. His illustrating style is quite unique. Going away from my four early reader picture books, to a picture book for kindergarten and below I knew immediately Jack was the illustrator I wanted. Lucky for me, Jack accepted the assignment. Thanks a bunch, Jack!

I can hardly wait to see this story come to life! It's a tribute to my lovely fraternal twin sister and our first day of kindergarten when we were separated for the first time.

Enjoy some of Jack's illustrations at... http://jacktoon.blogspot.com/

Thanks for visiting!

11. A Rainbow of Birds by Janet Halfman, Illustrated by Jack Foster

Birds have their legends just like people do, and baby birds love to hear the stories. Papa Cardinal, whose job it is to pass down bird ways to his chicks, tells them the story of how birds gave the world the rainbow.  A Rainbow of Birds (Guardian Angel Publishing) by Janet Halfmann is one of the most colorful books I've seen from Jack Foster. He went all out bringing the colors of the

12. Children's Book Review - There's A Lion in the House by Mary Esparza-Vela

Mary Esparza-Vela’s children’s book entitled, There’s A Lion in the House along with Jack Foster’s hysterical illustrated cover immediately made my mind race as to what the author had in store for her readers.  Hooked from the onset I immediately opened the book.

The youngest of four rabbit brothers, Robby, was the silliest of the bunch. Always the jokester, Robby thrived on teasing his siblings every chance he got with good old-fashioned pranks. Will the mention of the lion that almost ate their Grandpa in the woods one day make his imagination run wild or did the lion actually find it’s way into their home one evening. What is Robby to do when he hears loud roars during the night from within their house and when he tries to tell his brother’s each of them ignores him? Will Robby be brave and search where the noise is coming from or will he hide under his blankets?

Mary Esparza-Vela’s There’s A Lion in the House is a delightful tale of sibling antics that will have the reader laughing out loud throughout the story. Ms. Esparza-Vela’s expert storytelling will make There’s A Lion in the House a cherished book for years to come and I’m sure will be worn around the edges from the constant reading.

Jack Foster’s brilliant and hilarious illustrations enhance Ms. Esparza-Vela’s story to the highest level of enjoyment for both children and parents.

13. A Rainbow of Birds by Janet Halfmann

rainbow

Papa Cardinal tells his chicks a story of how birds gave the world the rainbow in a story that has been passed down through generations.

A Rainbow of Birds by Janet Halfmann is a vibrant story of color that celebrates the tradition of storytelling. In this imaginative idea that capitalizes on legends and the ancient art of storytelling, children find a fanciful and fun story of how birds came together–sometimes after a squabble–to create the world’s first rainbow. In her trademark habit of educating and entertaining, Halfmann has included fun facts about rainbows, the magic of leprechauns, and rainbow activities and crafts.

Artist Jack Foster has truly outdone himself with the vibrant and occasionally zany characters depicted in this story. I always enjoy Foster’s work, but this book is so stunning it warrants special mention. Coupled with Halfmann’s delightful text, I could imagine and almost hear the story taking place through my office window.

Nature lovers, lovers of legends, and those who enjoy books where storytelling plays a role will want to snatch this one up right away.

Highly recommended!

Follow this link to learn about a dog being trained as a service dog for a child with Asperger's. Animals never cease to amaze me because of their devotion and usefulness to humans.

My children's books reflect my love for animals. My newest book Shoo Cat! has a dog and a cat in it and wonderful illustrations by Jack Foster.

Remember to have your pets spayed or neutered to help reduce the number of animals in shelters.

23. Animal Cruelty - Valentine Survives

I am an animal lover so any form of animal cruelty is appalling to me. The following  cat story got my attention and I wanted to share the link with my readers. This story has a happy ending. I wish they all did.
Valentine's story

Parents, please teach your children to respect all life. Animal abuse seems to be rampant in this country and the stories are heartbreaking. Animals feel pain. Animals have emotions. Animals are living, loving creatures who often want only to please the humans they love. Just look at all of the positive roles animals play in our lives by providing transportation, aiding the disabled, giving comfort, saving lives, protecting us, etc. Animals have served man for centuries and are deserving of our loving care.

In my new book SHOO CAT! Ethan thinks he wants a dog, but a persistent stray cat wants to convince him that  a cat would be a better pet. Read my picture book to find out if the cat succeeds. The book has wonderful illustrations by Jack Foster and includes puzzles in the back. Children will want to hear this story again, and again. This book is available in soft cover or e-book formats.  Buy at Amazon. Buy at Guardian Angel Publishing.
