I had a day off today and all I asked for was to find a few moments to take a shot or two of the foliage before today's rain brings down all the leaves.
This is one of my favorite vistas. A house on the marsh looking as if it's its own island. I was thrilled to see it had visitors today as I was driving by on my way home from the market.
Hello, Mr. and Mrs.!!
Soft rain falling in Autumn...and swans!
Thank you, Universe. ♥
P.S. My nickname at work is tree hugger. And that's a bad thing?

What a wonderful week Robin and I spent together getting to know one another in person. She was a delightful guest! I just took her to the airport where she'll be getting back to her life in San Francisco. Just like when Marianne left, I miss her already.
Here I am photographing her photographing a seagull!
She was fascinated by everything here, even the ordinary.
This photo was taken at Colt State Park in Bristol.
We strolled through the gardens and arboretum at Blithewold and I discovered a pond which I had never seen before. It was fun sharing something new with her.
These koi were coy! They just wanted to stay beneath the surface although the sun was calling them.
We had a wonderful lunch here in Newport.
Most of the shops have water and treats for doggies that pass by!

This is a tree in a park near the marina where I sometimes walk Emma.
Do you know why it's smiling?
Because I finally have a day off !!!!!!!!!!!
Hopefully a little art making is in my near future :)
Happy Saturday!

Fallen branches on summer chairs
snow covered garden hares
little cherub eating snow

I've been working in the studio for most of the day trying to put in a certain amount of time and discipline. I was also enjoying it, although I haven't been well for a few days.
As it was nearing four o'clock I decided to drive myself down to this little park in my neighborhood and watch the sunset. It was quite nippy, but peaceful and lovely.
How fortunate to have these beauties show up for Animal Wednesday!
Three more followed behind. How can they handle that freezing water?
This was the finale!! I swear to you this is an untouched photo. The only thing I did was try a few pictures on the "sunset" setting. Wow! I also zoomed way in. That could be it, I got too close to the fire. Glad I did though ;)
Happy Animal Wednesday!

Today I'm keeping my post short and sweet.
I woke up to the most glorious, crisp fresh air and wispy clouds which made for a perfect walk. I thought I'd share a bit of my view with you today.
I'm thankful for the hint of Autumn in the air. It has put the spring back in my step!
Here are a few more pictures of this morning's walk.
I hope your day is as lovely as mine is turning out to be ♥

Okay, you ask, what does a tree have to do with an Animal Wednesday post?
Look closer!
You can see the profile of a bunny and the slightest outline of one ear against the branch. I swear I can even see his little front paws reaching up!!
Yes, it's true I was sipping wine in the yard the evening I spotted this, but what's your excuse? I know you see him too!
Here's another view. Be sure to click to "embiggen!"
Hmmmm, do you think it's a squirrel??
Maybe Emma the squirrel huntress chased it up the tree and it became "petrified!!"
hahahahah! Happy Animal Wednesday!

My
sacred space
for creating
peace.
I love sitting at my drawing table flanked by two of my best friends in their fluffy beds. I know I'm very lucky to have this.

As I peered out my kitchen window this morning this is what I saw.
Light grey skies peering through snow-covered trees.
The only indication this isn't a black and white photo is the blown glass piece on my windowsill.
Let's go see other Skywatch Friday pics to see what the fist day of the year looked like around the world!
The happiest of New Years to all of my dear friends in blogland!

Well, she's not in California anymore but at least we found a little beach where Emma could run like the wind!
Happy Animal Wednesday, and to all of you who celebrate Thanksgiving tomorrow, I hope you have a bountiful day full of blessings!

Taken at Walker's farm, Barrington on a clear Autumn day.
I love it when the sky reflects in puddles!
Please go to Skywatch Friday to see other shots around the globe :)

This is my first Autumn back in New England after being in Calif for 16 years.
I'll come back to this spot many times as the leaves start to turn their vibrant oranges, reds and golds.
Days like this don't get any better! Happy Skywatch Friday everyone.
Please go here to see more pretty pictures ;)

we're off for a week - going to mom's for the week and I'm so behind I can't even think straight. but glad you are here and OK and we'll do something around christmas OK?????love
Hi Lo,
I've been having Blogger issues, and hoping I've resolved them, fingers crossed.
Gorgeous post!
Our leaves are just now beginning to turn color. There aren't as many varieties of trees here as you have, with all the gorgeous color, but I love and hug them all anyway.
:-)
So glad that you had a day off to go meandering.Yaaa!
Wow..What a great view. I wish we had swans around here. They are so elegant. Glad you had the time to go take the photos. Update on Annie..She is doing really good now. Walks well on all fours. I am sooooo happy we found the new Vet and had the surgery done. HAW..
Hi dear!
Glad you had a good day off. Hope it brought you new energy and positive thoughts.
This place sure is wonderful and the swans always so lovely.
I will fly to Shanghai today and will be back on Sunday.
On my way to the train I will stop by my Mom.
Next week I hope to get all the painting done so I can have a few days off before my shed comes with a lot of painting work :( in the beginning of December.
Hope you are doing well and that you are enjoying your work more and more.
Miss you dear!
♥M
glad you got your much needed day of peace and rest. i love your new nickname, a badge of honor.
oh what a view... and hello swans :)
Hello Tree Hugger, it is I, Dances With Dogs! ;) If you have to have a moniker, yours is a good one. I'm glad you had some time to take these pictures because they have calmed me right on down. Thank you. xox!
I think that being considered a Tree Hugger is a good thing. Just don't go and get yourself arrested by sitting in a tree to save it from destruction like another of my friends. It might take me quite a while to get over to your place to bail you out since you live so far away. I hope you enjoyed your day off. Love seeing the swans ever though they are an introduced species.
This is a very nice Animal Wednesday post. Very scenic and restful. Hope you enjoyed your time off. Don't work too hard.
A great documentation of this perfect moment, Laurel, although I'm surprised that the male didn't attack.
you are invited to follow my blog
I love the swans! So peaceful. Tree Hugger can be a good thing - but like Lisa says, getting arrested is not! I'm curious about your job at the vet clinic...do you care to share? I'd love to hear what you do!
Thank you for sharing this lovely vista! Kudos for taking time for you :)
Embrace!
I work for three days and have two whole days off and every one of them is a gift- love my days off.
lotsa hugs and wfs to you sweetie pie.
Beautiful, Beautiful, Beautiful!!!
xoxo
Not a bad thing at all, Laurel. What a stroke of luck to find the swans at home. Thank you for the birthday wishes.
