1. Skywatch Friday: Diagonal View

I just took Emma out in the yard before dinner, letting her sniff and chase squirrels (who had been long gone when they heard her coming!) I was blissful with the feel of honest-to-pete spring in the air and when I tipped my head back I saw this fresh contrail. I had fun getting it placed corner to corner. ï»¿
It's been a while since I've participated in Skywatch Friday. 'Bout time, don't you think?

2. Skywatch Friday: bad views, good views

We had a wild storm pass through a couple of days ago. You can usually count on a wonderful, dramatic sky when the weather starts to clear. Now that I'm not living down the street from an amazing beach I have to deal with these ugly power lines and wires.
(Of course I praise said power lines and wires when I have a good computer connection!)
Well, the sky was so pretty I took a couple of photos anyway.
I just love that 'after the rain' smell in the air!
I went around to the side door and gasped at the light that was hitting the trees in the back yard. No power lines, just pure glowing sunshine and a glimpse of the blue sky!
Now we're talking!

Happy Skywatch Friday!
Please visit more folks and their sky shots here :)

3. Skywatch Friday: Passing Storm

This shot was taken at my sister's house in Pueblo, Colorado. One minute the sun was shining and then this wind and rain storm swept through. It was over as fast as it started!

Happy Skywatch Friday my friends! Don't forget to pop on over to SWF to see some amazing shots. And keep on lookin' up!

Wow, this amazing shot was taken yesterday by my friend Mary Helen while she was driving past Carmel River Beach. She knows how much I'm missing the area so she sends me sky shots when she can. This is a beauty! Thanks for letting me post it today Mary Helen ;)

This is my first Autumn back in New England after being in Calif for 16 years.
I'll come back to this spot many times as the leaves start to turn their vibrant oranges, reds and golds.

Emma enjoyed the summer breezes at Colt State Park today.

10. Skywatch Friday: Phoenix Rising

I was just closing the door when I spotted this cloud formation out of the corner of my eye over my neighbor's roof. To me, it looks like a spirit rising , possibly Phoenix or someone's beloved pet. It could be.

For other wonderful glimpses of clouds, go here.

Happy Skywatch Friday!

11. Skywatch Friday: Cloudgazing with Uncle Don

My favorite uncle is visiting me from Ottawa, Canada. Yesterday we went to Big Sur and enjoyed the scenery and the sunshine. This photo was taken while we were sitting in an outdoor cafe and chose to turn our chairs towards the hills to watch the clouds float by. It was a beautiful day!

For other Skywatch Friday shots, click here.

Hey, pull up a chair and watch the clouds put on a show!

12. Skywatch Friday: Prayers in the wind

This photo was taken in Carmel Valley on the back deck of my friend's house.

There was just the slightest breeze that day. Just enough to carry prayers to their destinations.

For more Skywatch Friday photos click here. It's quite a show!

13. Skywatch Friday: The Fog Arrives

One of the reasons we don't need air conditioning here in the Monterey Bay is because the fog always comes in after a warm day, like putting a wet blanet on a fire. The fog visits a little too often for my liking in the summer though.

Check out these skies from around the world to see how the other half lives!

14. Skywatch Friday: A Few More Sunsets

As my time nears the end of living near Asilomar Beach I'm going to take in as many sunsets as I can and share them with all of you.

Each setting sun shows us that we never know what's going to be on the horizon.

Happy Skywatch Friday, and remember to go here to see more skies in different parts of the world.

15. Skywatch Friday: Misty Morning

The first of May and the morning sky is inviting. The mist is rising off the water as the surfers get ready to start their days. Aaaaah, life is good!

Happy Skywatch Friday everyone! Don't forget to look at that glorious canvas over your head. To see other sky shots, run on over to this place!

16. Skywatch Friday: Heron Morning

On some mornings I have time to take my dog to El Estero Park in Monterey on my way to my first patient of the day. We walk around both loops of the lake as she enjoys the many sightings of Coots, ducks and Canada Geese, but every once in awhile we get to see a heron or an egret up close.
(See her on the left?)
I put Emma in the car so I could get these shots. They're very camera shy!
This is a very early morning sky which ended up being quite blue after awhile.
Still, grey as it is I love the reflection in the lake.

Happy Skywatch Friday! And don't forget to always look up at the beauty and to click here to see more sky shots from around the world!

21. Skywatch Friday : Dreamboat

This sky is over Asilomar Beach on the Monterey Bay where I live. I didn't even know the whalewatching boat was in the picture because I was focusing on the sky, otherwise I would have never stuck him right in the middle!
