Had to get some more mileage out of this one. This illo is based on an actual bartender from Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. It was the afterparty for the National Association of Hispanic Journalists convention. We were bused from El Paso, Texas, to a rodeo arena in Juarez. Free beer. Free tequila. Free real Mexican food! General Tequila wandered around, dispensing shots for everyone. Truly a memorable experience! If I could only remember the details ...

This is an illo I did for Salon mag back in 1999 about video games and violence. An artist by name of Patrick Hildebrandt posted a comment here because he saw the illo on the Joystiq blog, with a link to the original Salon page! It was clearly a case of unauthorized use by the blog. Fellow SFGer John Reddinger saw the post and forwarded it to me. I sent Joystiq a stern, but educational email, and the image was soon taken down. Thanks, John!
