1. Disappearance

Sorry I've been MIA lately. We got hit with the stomach flu. We're better now and to celebrate I'm having a 2 day Holiday sale. Receive 15% off everything in my Etsy shop Thursday and Friday only (Dec. 10-11). Just mention the code H1209 in the message to seller.

2. Birdhouse Frame collages

These little beauties are almost ready for their debut in my shop. They are original, hand painted collages with hardware on the back, ready to hang in your home. I'll keep you posted.

Here's a close up of the birdie collages.

3. Birdie Collage and Work in Progress

Here's my latest collage painting. Love that quote! You may be wondering where my color pencil work is lately. I'm having so much fun with collage painting, that when I sit down to use the color pencils, I just don't feel it. I'm definitely going through a transition lately. Luckily, I have the luxury of going with the flow right now. Don't worry though, color pencil fans—I have a cp piece developing in my mind right now. Hoping to work on it next week. Stay tuned.

Here's a shot of what's on my drawing board today. You can see a finished piece here. These will house little birdie collages in the windows and will be available in my Etsy shop soon (God willing and the creeks don't rise).

4. More collage—Birdhouse

Another birdhouse that I collaged with a page from an old book. I just can't seem to get enough of birdhouses.

This is a gift from my son. He made it for me at boy scout camp. What a sweetie. I'll be hanging it in my studio.

5. Birdhouse Frame collage

I just finished this the other day. Had to wait for good light to photograph it. I had so much fun making this, that I may make some more to sell in my shop. Any interest out there?

6. "TIME" for Spring

I found a really sweet birdhouse in our forest. Trapped under vines and old beyond use, it inspired this painting. It looked so much like a little clock that I decided to reinvent it as one, with fresh new paint. Now it can welcome a new family with pride.

7. Animal Wednesday: Every Birdie Welcome!

Each year the Pacific Grove Historical Society has a fundraiser where they ask many local artists to create and donate a birdhouse. This is my entry for last year. It brought in $185 for the cause, and hopefully a wonderful bird family loves the house! I also got an honorable mention. You should have seen some of those houses! Wow, what imaginations!

I bought the house already painted green. I added the sky and branches in the front with a butterfly. The back design is an espalier with two house sparrows.
Each side has a little bird with a juicy berry and the top has a nest with 3 eggs. The photo of the top and the right side can't be found. Oh well, you get the idea!

I thought it would be an appropriate post for today with so many of us wishing for the first signs of Spring.

Happy Animal Wednesday!

8. Hand painted & collaged birdhouses

It's a new day and a new week! Yeah! Josh and I have been painting lately. I'll show his in the next post. I don't know why, but I love birdhouses! These sat in my office for a year before I decided what to do with them. I liked them unpainted, so I just left them until inspiration struck. The one above is a little 2" one. I may paint more for my upcoming Etsy shop. Let me know what you think. The others are actually big enough to house bird families, but will live in my studio instead. As you can see the lilacs are blooming. They are so beautiful. I love them!

I knew I wanted to collage the roofs, but didn't know what to use. Then something arrived all wrapped up in this tissue paper with calligraphy on it and I knew at once it would work. I do wish that I had left the darker tissue as is, but of course, I went one step too far and covered it up with the lighter version. I really wish I could remember where the tissue came from. I'd love to get more.

9. Bad Luck of the Irish

Illo for the sports section of the Daytona Beach News-Journal. Notre Dame's football team has been all but knocked out so far this season.
