Taking Monty Python´s sketch as inspiration, I illustrated an ex-bunny. Oh well.. all is part of the circle of life, some bunny expires in the woods and some plant blossom thanks to him.
Inspirandome en el sketch de Monty Python, illustré un ex-conejo. Bueno… todo es parte del cirulo de la vida, un conejito muere en el bosque y algunas plantas crecen gracias a él.

I suppose this piece would be more appropriately titled Little Lost Squirrels 0 as it's actually a prequel to Little Lost Squirrels:
It may be hard to see in the picture, but the two little lost squirrels can be seen in the distant landscape as two tiny silhouetted shapes traversing an open field. It's always challenging for me to maintain a good level of color saturation in twilight and night-time paintings. I think using a lot of purple in the shadows helps keep some color in areas that might otherwise fall into grays and blacks - it's a subtle thing, but I think it helps.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! I hope all my readers have a very relaxing holiday today with friends, family, and lots of turkey and stuffing..... followed by a nap perhaps...

In the last decade there have been less then 10 cases of a mountain lion attacking a human in Wyoming. It’s unusual as mountain lions tend to shy away from humans.
Dustin Britton was camping in Shoshone National Forest in Wyoming, gathering and cutting some firewood for his camp when he noticed the mountain lion stalking him. He tried to back away but the lion attacked him. He defended himself with the only thing he had with him of any size, his chainsaw.
Dustin said it was like a full grown man had tried to tackle him. The chainsaw apparently grazed the lion in the shoulder laying open a wound. It retreated after being injured.
Dustin only suffered a small puncture on his arm, other than that he was fine. Dustin, a former marine, is lucky to escape with such minor injuries.
Authorities killed the lion after it killed one of the dogs that tracked it down. Authorities said the lion was only 4 or 5 years old and was in a state of severe starvation.
Dustin. buddy…you get my vote for the Chuck Norris Award of the Year.

“That’s Talitha’s barrette! See the one with the two leaves? The green parts are emeralds and the gold parts are real gold! Talitha wears it around like all of us and she can turn it into a big shield.”
“Talitha-chan! Looky at your new design! Isn’t it super-cool?”
“Yep, Forest Girl is looking pretty tough.”

I heard of an experiment that someone was doing in San Fransisco which they dubbed a "sketchcrawl". The idea is to go out and draw for an entire day everything that you do or things that you see as you go along. I was inspired and intrigued by the idea so I decided to plan one myself! I urge other illustration readers to plan one in their city. It's a great way to meet other aritsts in their community.
EDMONTON SKETCH CRAWL

SAT, MARCH 29th

STANLEY A MILNER LIBRARY, Down town
(in the entrance if it's terrible outside, outside if it's glorious!)
Here's what the founder had to say:
"The basic idea: to record nonstop everything I could around me with my pencil and watercolors. A drawn journal filled with details ranging from the all the coffee I drank to the different buses I took. After a whole day of drawing and walking around the city the name seemed quite fitting: “SketchCrawl” - a drawing marathon. The crawl was more tiring than I imagined but also more fun and exciting than I had thought. Giving yourself this kind of mandate for a full day changes the way you look around you. It makes you stop and see things just a tad longer, just a bit deeper … needless to say I loved it.
I soon figured out it was much more interesting to do the marathon with a group of artists instead of all by myself! And so SketchCrawl turned communal. After a whole day of drawing it proved to be amazingly interesting and inspiring to share and compare other people’s drawings and thoughts. Different takes on our surroundings, different details, different sensibilities.
The next step was making the SketchCrawl a World Wide event: having people from different corners of the world join in a day of sketching and journaling and then, thanks to the Internet, having everyone share the results on an online forum.
Hope to see some of you out there!

OK, one more dash from the Cave of Revision, this time to pick up medicine, dump the tissue-filled trash basket, and proclaim thanks and celebration throughout the Forest because my fundraising goal for the Team in Training Half Marathon has been met. Karen McQuestion, a Wisconsin journalist now working on a novel, put me over the top, and is the happy winner of the audio version of TWISTED. Thank you, Karen! Thank you, everyone who contributed! Because of you, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society can save lives.
But....
.... it's not over. You see, it's called the Team in Training. My teammate is my best friend and Beloved Husband, Scot. Since my name is on the books, it's easy for me to beg for donations. Trust me, my friends, if it were not for this guy, the books would not get written. He keeps me going in more ways than I can count.
Scot is 29% of the way to his goal. Please donate to the hottest bald guy in running shorts! He makes the world a better place.
New Topic: Attention teachers of FEVER 1793! There is a terrible outbreak of yellow fever in Paraguay right now.
One more thing: I stayed up last night to watch the eclipse. We had a foot of snow the night before so the the back meadow was hushed and brilliant with a million moon-filled diamonds sparkling. As the dragon ate the moon, the snow dimmed and fell into shadow. Then the stars came out, exuberantly, like a chorus that's been impatiently waiting its cue. BH stood with me as the dragon swallowed the moon and her belly lit up red. A dog down the road couldn't stop howling. We understood what he felt.
I woke up early this morning and watched the moon set, and am now watching a beautiful sunrise. In the middle of all these revisions, with kids home on vacation, plus the hacking, disgusting cough, having these still moments in the real world of moon and stars and sleeping meadows is quite nice.
Back to the Cave. Miles to go before I sleep.
just beautiful ! ^_^
Sara this is so beautiful you are a really talented person.
