And that’s pretty much a wrap. Here’s my favorite 12 pieces for the year. So long, 2016, and thank you, tumblrites, for all your interest and support!

Cover re-design: Sense & Sensibility
I love all of Austen’s work, but there’s something about the Marianne/Elinor dynamic that reminds me of me and my sister. Especially this situation:
Marianne was silent; it was impossible for her to say what she did not feel, however trivial the occasion; and upon Elinor therefore the whole task of telling lies when politeness required it, always fell.
I had to cough up all the polite lies, too, and I certainly thought my sister could have pitched in once in awhile.

Ghost Town
Going through old files. This was a painting experiment that never entirely grew past the sketch stage, but it was good practice for digital watercolor techniques.

A recent illustration to accompany Lavie Tidhar’s The Red Flower. Read the story here.
The power went out in the studio over the weekend, and FYI, candles look pretty but are rubbish to paint by.

Throwback Thursday: Moab, Utah
This is one of my woodcut prints from printmaking class. I sure do miss the big roller press I made all these on, even though it could be a real pain to squeeze something as thick as a woodblock through it. If you look in the lower right corner, you can see a sliver of blue where the press forced the block to slip just a little on its second pass. I still have a few of these prints around, so if anyone wants one, you can find them in the shop here.
