1. Wellness Simplified

When I was in grade school waiting for the bus to come and take me to school, I remember complaining to my Mom that I wished it was already Friday. She said, “Wait until you’re 21; they all fly by.” As a typical kid, I rolled my eyes at what my seemingly ancient Mom (then in her early 30’s) had to say. Guess what? I now have the wisdom to know she was right.

Days do fly by whether we like it or not. So why not make the most of our days and like them and our experiences a little bit more every day? What if changing our focus, attitude and outlook made the biggest difference? Because it usually does.

What if you could change your mind and realize that your current conditions are temporary? What if you stopped projecting negativity onto your future? What if you stopped watching and listening to the news? What if being an optimist and focusing on and moving toward the wellness and goals you desire becomes easier the more you do it? How do athletes excel at what they do? Practice, practice, practice – and a coach and a team and fans…

Here’s an example. One respondent to my survey said she liked my video but found the information overwhelming. My guess would be that she didn’t download the free eBook that gives step-by-step instructions. But let’s say she did download it, but just had too much going on in her life and found it difficult to not revert back to old habits. That’s easy to do.

When you want to make a change in your life, what must you do? Create a plan and consistently stick to it until you reach your goal. Also, you must make adjustments as necessary to the plan to accommodate what’s going on in your life.

The same is true for healing symptoms currently attributed to ADHD. The video presented the big picture of how the meme of ADHD came to be. It took years and systems to create that meme. It won’t change overnight nor is it any one person’s responsibility to change it. It’s just information. We’re all in this together. What you do with that information is up to you.

My suggestion is to start with one thing. Begin with the issue that is causing the most upset for you, your child and your family. Focus on healing that issue until it is gone or manageable as naturally as possible. Then as your intuition guides you, tackle another issue, and so on. If it involves other family members, make each change a family decision that everyone can buy into. When everyone knows WHY something is a good idea despite what “others” are doing, they just might see the value in changing it which then inspires them to stick with it.

Everyone, including children, have beliefs that rule their behavior. If you can get to the belief that drives the problem behavior and get them to reframe it, that’s called coaching and it can work miracles with new results. Take a look at my previous post for examples.

If you need assistance, get support. You never have to go it alone. Life will move forward whether you’re on board as a pessimist or an optimist. Why not make your experiences as joyful as you can. Change is the only constant so expect miracles because everything is temporary and God is everywhere.

Enjoy infinite blessings!

5. What’s missing?

Gratitude is the strongest positive emotion you can feel. Has your gratitude practice, if you have one, filled the void of what’s missing in your life yet?

If not, then you may have a block to receiving what you want. What are you not receiving in your life?

I’ve struggled with emotional eating all my life. We all can turn to addictions to fill a void or deal with stress whether it’s Facebook, television, eating, video games or whatever. There are a plethora of escape vehicles on this planet.

As a life coach and spiritual teacher, I’m able to access beyond the surface to the body, mind and spirit levels. When I finally decided to get to the bottom of why I haven’t received what I want in my life yet, some interesting questions came to me. If you haven’t received what you want yet, ask yourself the following questions:
1. What is missing in my life that I really want to have in my life? (You may have been projecting the lack of it on others, the economy, stereotypes, etc.)
2. What am I not receiving?
3. What do I need to change, heal, do (or do differently) to receive it in my life?

If you are anything like me, you’ll get surface answers at first. I want a better income; the relationship; more harmony in existing relationships, etc. Then I asked what those things represent to me and what I get from my substitute for them (usually food).

For me the answer was love. I’m not receiving love. It isn’t that people haven’t offered it, it’s that I haven’t been receiving it.

When I understood that what was missing from my life represented me not receiving love, I sat with it for a little while. Why would I not receive love? Why would I block (unconsciously of course) the receiving of love?

While I don’t believe in blaming parents and holding onto the story of our upbringing because that just keeps us stuck in it, we do need to feel the feelings we have bottled up in order to let the story go. I believe we choose our parents and families for the lessons we each need to teach and learn. We are all students and teachers – at every age. We all do the best we can with who we are at each particular moment in time.

All of that said, I will share a bit of my story to illustrate what was stopping me from receiving love in the hopes it will help you and your children.

For me, it turns out that not receiving love was a learned pattern from my family of origin who got it from their parents…and so on. I don’t recall my parents being very affectionate, and I’m a sensitive kinesthetic person who loves a good hug. So while some kids may not want to receive hugs from parents (especially at certain ages), apparently I needed it. I was given food and gifts to show affection.

I also have no recollection of my parents saying they loved me (but they showed it a lot). They only started saying that to me when I was in my 30’s living thousands of miles away. I remember being angry when they first said it as they paused for me to say it in return after never having had this exchange all my life. It took me a little while to reciprocate.

Having learned how to bottle up my words and feelings and shove them all down with food instead, I also learned how not to receive love – except from food and shopping, and… you get the picture. You see this is how my family of origin shared love. To understand this issue better in yourself or your child, take the free 5 Love Languages Test.

So I ask you, what is the bottom line of that which you are not receiving? Is it love? Is it forgiveness? Worth? Value?

Once you recognize “it,” you can change it. You have the power. No one can think for you. No one can move through your feelings for you, and no one can take the actions you must take.

It is God’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. The only block is your inability to receive. Heal the blocks to receiving because your Soul is waiting to deliver your best dreams and move forward with your life in joy and enthusiasm.

Depending on your issues or those of your children if you share this practice with them (and I hope you do), you may need additional assistance from a therapist or someone like me who is trained in the energy healing arts. You will know your own best path to wholeness.

If you share these questions with your children, please let them come up with their own answers. If you need assistance, be sure to seek help.

Thank you for taking steps to receive what you really want in your life. We are all One. So when you lift up yourself, you lift up the whole.

Please share this post with those who may benefit.

Enjoy infinite blessings,

Cheryl

6. Look for the Rainbow…

I’m sure you’ve heard the question: What came first, the chicken or the egg?

Have you ever had an intuitive hit and then “it” happened? Well what came first? The intuitive hit or the event letting you know it was on its way to you?

No matter the size of your goals and purpose such as the father who created work programs for disabled young adults or me and others spreading the word that certain health “conditions” only exist because of a toxic food supply and environment…

8. Focus Mastery: You Have a Choice

The last two articles on Focus Mastery spoke about some things that create problems with focus. However, what causes you or anyone to choose that which does not help you master your focus and get what you want out of life?

It all starts in your mind.

If you haven’t read How to Improve Your Focus, please do. It contains an easy focus exercise for you and children.

You are always at a place of choice. The tricky thing is that life moves so quickly that it can be difficult to realize you have a choice. Did you ever make a decision by default or to be polite not realizing a better offer was available? You just didn’t see it – you just weren’t aware of it at the time because you were so focused on getting your errands done; or worrying about where the money to pay the bills would come from; or that person trying to distract you; or whatever fear-based distracting thoughts or people you chose to focus on at the time.

If you’re anything like me, you probably kicked yourself mentally and emotionally for a very long time afterward (not a good idea by the way). For example: How could I not have seen that opportunity; right turn; exit on the freeway; whatever the other better and more loving path had I only been more aware and less distracted at the time?

Spirit knocks gently at first. If we choose fear or unforgiveness of self or others – even unconsciously, rather than listen to our guidance, we don’t always get the best results. I can tell you from personal experience that when I understand, listen to and act on my guidance, nothing less than miracles happen in my life. This is true for everyone. I know you’ve experienced this as well. It’s part of being human.

My wish for you, your family and all of us is that we Love so much that fear can’t take hold of our minds. Fear is only in the mind. God is love. God is everywhere and we are made from the stuff of God. God wants the best for us. Focus on love in its many forms with joy and gratitude and let it permeate your mind and life. You and your family deserve the best.

“Once you make a decision, the Universe conspires to make it happen.” – Emerson

Enjoy being the gift you came here to be – naturally.

Be Peace,

Cheryl

9. Focus Mastery: Dehydration, Sleep Deprivation and Focus? LOL

This is the second installment on Focus Mastery. Focus is power. Focus is also the hottest commodity in today’s world. Accomplishing anything in your life requires your focus which involves your mind, body and spirit.

In the heat wave here in Southern California and other parts of the country, it is important to keep your body hydrated. According to H.H. Mitchell, Journal of Biological Chemistry 158, the brain and heart are composed of 73% water, and the lungs are about 83% water. The skin contains 64% water, muscles and kidneys are 79%, and even the bones are watery: 31%.[1]

Each day humans must consume a certain amount of water to survive. Of course, this varies according to age and gender, and also by where someone lives. Generally, an adult male needs about 3 liters (approx. 12 cups) per day while an adult female needs about 2.2 liters (about 8 cups) per day. Some of this water is gotten in food.

How can a body and brain that are comprised largely of water function properly without constant replenishment of that same liquid?

Given my current lifestyle and schedule this past week, I was way below what was needed normally let alone extra for the hot weather. To top that, I had accumulated a few weeks of sleep deprivation. If you read my previous post about bagels, I did a BIG NO-NO. I ate unhealthy carbs to give me an energy boost. Have you or your children ever done that? What was the result?

If you’re anything like me with food allergies and sensitivities, the results were not positive. Not only was my focus on the negative aspects of my life, but motivation and energy to improve the situation seemed to have dried up (pun intended).

My mind and body wanted sleep; my inner child and emotions needed a hug; and my spirit was wondering when the heck I’d finally get it and follow my guidance for the results I choose.

So after a turbulent couple of days doing the best I thought I could, I got it. NO more bad foods that turn me into a big confused mess inside. Stress overload can unintentionally cause harm to ourselves and those we love. I also took the next day to do a little more energy healing work and get some rest to let it all integrate.

The unconscious mind never stops, but the conscious mind and the body need healthy food, rest and water on a regular basis.

This is even more important for children whose minds and bodies are still forming. Give the mind and body what they need to be healthy and they will be good to you.

Bottom line: Eat what is healthy for YOUR body; drink plenty of healthy clear water; and get as much sleep as your body needs. Every body is different.

Enjoy infinite blessings,

Cheryl Healey

10. Focus Mastery: Stress, Bagels and Focus? Oh my…

Do you or your children have reactions to food? I certainly do. One of my issues is a gluten sensitivity. Gluten and many carbs metabolize as sugar which causes an insulin spike. This also gives one a quick energy boost and then a lull later.

On a particularly stressful day, I turned to bagels after being off of them for quite a while. This caused me to experience my usual reaction; I felt like I was hugged emotionally; no physical symptoms at first; then a huge bout of fatigue about two hours later. So I then had two hard-boiled eggs and immediately felt better.

Still feeling very stressed the next day, I unfortunately turned to bagels again. This time I felt satisfied but also guilty. Sure enough, a few hours later not only did my energy drop but I became very agitated. I was at the library working and felt brain fog, anger, frustration and a whole gamut of other negative emotions. I got out of the library quickly, went outside to re-charge in nature and connect to something greater than my stress. In other words – I changed my focus and environment.

I went to get two hard-boiled eggs to right the wrong I had caused in my body’s ecosystem. Within minutes I was back to normal both physically and emotionally. I later did some energy and belief transformation work. I’m proud to say that on day 3, I still craved that stress-reducing food but stayed clear of the bagels because I healed the belief that drove me to eat them.

Your ability to focus is your greatest power. Food plays a major role for you and your children. So how are you all doing with focus to peacefully achieve what you want?

As you probably already know, marketing, media, commercials and all advertising is designed to catch your attention and the attention of your children. The ability to focus in our modern-day world is a complicated task. Distractions are everywhere.

Distracted by stress, I had bagels for two days which brought about a negative impact on my focus and emotions. Focus precedes feeling. When the body is given what it needs to operate at its best, you have a better chance at better focus and results.

A lifetime of learned behaviors had given my neuropathways the habit of turning to comfort food under times of stress. It is possible, however, to change learned behaviors. That’s where coaching can be a big help.

Here are some tools you can utilize next time stress is attempting to redirect your focus toward a habit that does not serve you.

  1. Know that everything is a gift. Everything is happening FOR you – not to you.
  2. Then:
  • Stop
  • Breathe deeply until you feel calm
  • Smile
  • Move your body to move the energy through you
  • If you’re hungry or feeling an insulin crash, eat something healthy to boost your mood and brain power
  • Redirect your focus in a positive way on the task at hand

When you focus on the positive and what you want (instead of the negative) and feel the feeling and enthusiasm of having it already, you can more easily ignore the distractions and pay attention to the signs along the way. When you are calm and pay attention, you notice the signs.

Start to perceive what gives you good energy and the ability to focus naturally (without a big drop in your insulin or emotions an hour or more later). Teach this to your children also. The thing to realize is whether or not a food affects your focus in addition to your energy level. Food created by God is medicine. Your body is a messenger and a vehicle of your Soul.

There may be other reasons why you or your children cannot focus on a particular task at hand. As I mentioned above, I needed to do some energy healing work and transform a belief to pass up bagels on the next stressful day. Ask for help if you need it.

Stay tuned for more on Focus Mastery. It’s a big topic that involves your body, mind and spirit. Focus mastery will change your life.

Remember to focus on what you want with the feeling of having it already. God wants you to be happy because God is inside you. So it just makes sense that when you’re happy, God is happy.

If you found this post helpful, please share with those who may benefit.

Enjoy infinite blessings,

Cheryl Healey

21. What One Thing Does Syria and the U.S. Have In Common?

I am blessed to have been born in the United States where we have freedom of speech and the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.  It is from a place of love that I write this article so please take it as such.

During the Vietnam war, the U.S. used a chemical weapon called agent orange on the Vietnamese people.  Recently, Dow and Monsanto teamed up to create Smartstax®.  Smartstax is a GMO corn that contains a derivative of agent orange.  This new corn/pesticide was approved by the USDA while at the same time revealing that it is a known carcinogen.  The USDA also stated that the use of pesticides increases when herbicide resistant crops (GMO’s) become dominant.

What is wrong with this picture?

As consumers, we are all complicit in this practice.  We buy the chemically laden products including food, beauty and cleaning products.  When adverse symptoms or cancer shows up in people or pets, more chemicals called drugs or chemo are used to combat the symptoms often caused by toxic exposure.  How many new birth defects, diseases and infertility issues appeared in the last century as the use of toxic chemicals rose?

We may not use large doses of chemical weapons on the population as Syria did, but small doses of chemical poisons and pesticides over a lifetime have extremely adverse affects on children, adults, animals and the planet.

When researching “cures”, we never seem to find the root cause but rather find a new chemical drug to treat the symptoms.  This practice only causes more adverse reactions and symptoms called side effects.  Don’t get me wrong here.  Drugs and modern medicine can save and prolong lives.  However, God’s cures are plentiful in nature even though they’re not big money-makers.  The American people deserve to have options as God intended.

I am very passionate about health and a healthy food supply.  I will confess that I love the taste of sugar and sometimes contribute to the problem as a consumer.  It’s almost impossible not to purchase unhealthy foods at this time in history.  In a previous article, the temporary GMO Rider seems to highlight that corporations have a lot of power in our government.  Food and health have become political issues.

During a recent lunch with a dear friend, I mentioned that the American people seem apathetic to this issue.  She looked at me with sadness and said it wasn’t apathy but a feeling of hopelessness as if there’s nothing that can be done to change it.  So she spends her money wisely to vote as best she can on healthy choices.

Until GMO’s are labeled, however, any food purchase – even for babies; is a crap shoot.  Our next opportunity to pass a GMO labeling law is in November with 522 in Washington state.   Please show your support and spread the word.

I don’t claim to have all the answers and this is a large topic that involves many industries.  However, Albert Einstein said that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.  Poisoning God’s food supply including livestock has only brought disease and inhumane treatment to the animals we consume.  I pray that God enters our hearts and minds and shows us a healthier and kinder way.

The people of this country elect the leaders of this country.  The people of this country fund the government and the corporations.  Do you agree that poisoning the food supply is a good idea?  If not, then what would inspire you to care enough about your health and the health of your children to make some healthy changes?

How do you feel about this issue?  Please comment and share with your friends.

22. What’s Your Excuse?

Since every body is different and everyone’s motivation for making healthy choices is different, what would inspire you and your family to make healthy changes now rather than wait to hit rock bottom in a crisis situation?

I really would like your input.

In the free e-book entitled ADHD Wellness Program, I presented the cause and solutions that forward-thinking doctors are already implementing.  A step by step program was presented in an easy-to-follow process.

In the video called ADHD – Healing the Myth, the big picture cause was illustrated so everyone can understand how and why children are experiencing symptoms and why some degenerative aging diseases have become the norm in our society.  My goal is to raise awareness and witness the eradication of the meme of ADHD in my lifetime.

Since I am also sensitive to many foods and sugar, I am also healing myself.  This is such a complicated topic as it involves health, eating and exercise habits, foods (which involves money and lifestyle) and environment or culture which involves beliefs.  We are currently moving through a hopefully temporary fear-based stressed-out time on our planet.  Almost everyone can feel it – including children.  Many use food, pills or addictions to numb the stress.

Change happens when the individual sees the need for change in their life and decides to change based on how it makes them feel.  The bottom line is that we all accept the “love” we feel we deserve.  I put love in quotes because it is meant to be generic and touch upon anything that is loving for you, your body or your life.  The same goes for your children.  You each must want something more than you don’t want something else and BELIEVE you have the ability to achieve it.

For example,

▪       You may want natural solutions for your family but don’t want to spend extra money on food that can be used for other things that are more fun or deemed more necessary.

▪       A pill seems easier and you have so little extra time already.

▪       Your parents used food as love so now you do it with your children.  Here honey, have a cookie…  Is that really just another pacifier?

▪       You want to be healthy and trim but don’t want to go for a walk or to the gym if it means missing your favorite TV programs.

▪       You’re too tired to work out even though certain exercises are invigorating and will give you good energy.

▪       You may believe that it’s normal that people end up in nursing homes now so you’ve already warned your kids to take care of you later on so you don’t have to change and make healthy choices now.

What are you teaching your children?  What are your expectations for your life?  You all deserve a fabulous wonderful life!  When you settle for less than your dreams, you’ll get less than your dreams.

I know this is a multi-faceted issue.  Lack of funds to purchase organic healthy foods often leads to unhealthy choices.  Allergens can eventually create an addictive response in the body.  When the ph and healthy flora are compromised, candida may thrive and you crave the foods that are unhealthy.

In addition, people like to be entertained.  It helps to counteract the stress of life.  So you may make a choice to feel better in the moment rather than go the extra mile or dollar for your health.

It’s easy to blame “them” or the systems, but change starts one choice at a time, one person and one family at a time.

When you raise your awareness of what you don’t and do want, sometimes ideas and solutions have a magical way of showing up.

This blog and the ADHD Children Facebook page have many posts to inform and inspire.  Check them out and please share them with your friends.

Enjoy infinite blessings!

23. Corporate Dictatorship or Democracy?

I usually don’t post action items. However, censorship is something I experience personally and it continues to spread regarding natural solutions for health as well as our right to share that information and give testimonials. I believe I have a right to choose how I treat an illness in my body as well as tell others about it so they have the right to choose for themselves. Every “body” is different. Everyone knows the required disclaimers regarding “checking with your doctor first….” We all have the right to know and share alternative health-care options and then choose for ourselves – especially since every drug comes with known side-effects. Is America a corporate dictatorship or a democracy?

This link explains what is happening regarding your right to share information about natural solutions.

I have posted the link below to the World-wide GMO labeling laws before, but it is worth repeating.  It shows how far behind the United States and North America in general are regarding the people’s right to know what they eat and feed their families.

24. How to Improve Your Focus

Focus is power.  Focus is also the hottest commodity in today’s world.  Grabbing the focus of the buying public is the job of all marketing and media.  It is how the world works.  How can a product or idea sell if it doesn’t catch the attention of the masses?  Advertisers use this to their advantage even on children with commercials between cartoons.  Focus is so important that drug companies market drugs for children as young as six years old to improve focus and test scores.

So how can you and your child/ren (if you have any) focus on what you each choose and deem as healthy and beneficial for your lives rather than be distracted by that which does not serve your values or intentions?  The answer is awareness and practice.

First you must each be aware that almost everything is a choice and you each have the ability to choose whether something warrants your time and focus or not.  Second, you must each be aware that all media and advertising are just someone else’s viewpoints.

If you want to achieve what you desire for your life, it is very important to be an independent thinker.  Albert Einstein said that “The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant.  We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.”

Did you know that Albert Einstein had ADHD and Asperbergers?  One of his elementary school teachers told Albert’s father that it didn’t matter what Albert did because he would never amount to anything.

Everyone has opinions based on their own beliefs, experiences and agenda.  The interesting thing is that most of your beliefs were started by someone other than you.

Here is an exercise for you and children to strengthen your focus and awareness skills.

Choose an object to focus on for at least two minutes when you are alone and not driving.  It can be a pen, your hand, whatever you choose.  It cannot be the television, a computer or anything that changes.  Focus on it for at least one minute thinking only of that object.  If something else happens to distract you (other than something you must attend to like your child or an emergency), keep your thoughts focused on the object.  Your mind may wander and that’s OK; just bring your mind back to the object.  Do this exercise every day.  You may increase the time or change the object upon which you focus.  Over time you will find that the focus skill you are building is transferable.  The skill of ignoring distractions that do not require your response will become more of a conscious choice for you.

This is great for children as well.  It may seem boring to them in our fast-paced video-game driven world, but the benefits will build a necessary balance for them.  It’s easy to do and the rewards are immense.  Over time focus and the awareness to decide whether or not to pay attention to a distraction will become conscious choices rather than automatic reactions.

Make it fun rather than a chore.  Focus on something that makes you smile and the time will fly by.  Also trade off and focus on something that seems boring as this is where the skill is needed most.

Thoughts precede feelings, and actions and inactions spring from emotions.  Focus starts that whole ball rolling.  Master the skill to focus naturally and you become a master.  This is what meditation is all about – the control of focus.

Our modern-day world has so many interesting things vying for your attention.  Focus is your friend to help you and your family members achieve what you each desire.  Controlling your focus is the first step to owning your power.  As Walter Anderson says in his wonderful book entitled The Confidence Course, “focus on solutions.”  What you and your children focus upon expands.  If you focus on the problem, it grows.  Focus on solutions and solutions will come to your intuitive mind if you are willing.

Enjoy infinite blessings!

25. The Story of Wild Salmon

It looks like Canada is experiencing similar hardships as the United States regarding what was a pure and natural food supply.  While this video is a bit long, it is very informative and worth watching if you care about what you eat and feed your children.  Together we can all make a positive difference in our food supply.  Vote with your dollars.
