I have introduced myself and my first publication to the world. I have asked you as the reader of my 'blog' some questions I would like you to think about when you read your next book!
Statistics for So, Here I Stand
Number of Readers that added this blog to their MyJacketFlap: 1
The following is the 'blurb' on the back of the cover to give you an idea of the storyline.
I am going to tell you a story, the untold story about a child, not any old story but a true story.
This is the story about my unborn child.
Named 'Little M',her tireless battle for survival ended on March 28th 1996 due to Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus.
During this short extract of my life, I will take you on a journey.
Everyone will have an opinion and everyone will form one, but these are my opinions and I am inviting you to share in them.
Take a walk in my shoes and look through my eyes.
Share too in my feelings, laughter and my tears, as well as my joy and my sadness.
If you decide to make a purchase, I hope you have the tissues handy!

My latest work has just received a very generous review from 'The Book Reviewer.com website' and I am very pleased to be able to share this with you...
Rosie Wrinkles and the Wiccan Deity is a breath of fresh air in the over-Pottered Young Adult sector. This is a return to good he old fashioned and simplistic story telling we remember from our own childhoods. Before books were created with half an eye on the resulting video games tie-ins or cartoon spin-offs. A book with a good solid story and not afraid to present some good morals into the mix. Jane E Hill embarked on her writing career after winning a competition sponsored by Mirador Publishing. The company took a chance with Jane on a collection of short stories entitled, The Commuter’s Collection then went on to sign her for this full length novel.
Rosie Wrinkles is the tale of a young orphan girl in Late Victorian London who escapes from the workhouse to embark on a quest that might just save the world. The juxtaposition of the small, frail girl and the enormity of her task is beautifully handled as Hill weaves her particular brand of magic through the narrative.
Peopled by a wonderful cast of characters and with names that would delight any Dickens fan, the book is a whirlwind of ideas and excitement. Jane E Hill carries an unusual style of writing and it is refreshing to see something new emerging from the Young Adult market. For too long it has been dominated by sparkly teenage vampires with insecurity complexes or the endless Harry Potter clones. Well done, Jane and we hope to see more from this promising new author. COMING THIS SUMMER... My new novel 'Rosie Wrinkles and the Wiccan Deity' will be released this Summer through Mirador Publishing.
Here is a brief synopsis-
It is 1910 and Rosie Wrinkles is an orphan.
Shanghaied by a stranger in the dead of night, and delivered to the local Workhouse Rosie arrives with little else but the clothes on her back and a 'memory bottle'.
A stranger bundles her into a sack and sells her soul in exchange for a few pounds.
Hungry, cold and alone, Rosie plans an escape until a peculiar visitor arrives to collect her.
Transported to a beautiful place called 'Widdershin' together with five friends, this is where Rosie finds herself introduced to Gaia the Earth Mother.
Her destiny is to prevent the Wiccan Deity from breaching the Door of Destruction and shifting the balance of the Universe.
With the aid of a Verge from the Twisted Oak, Rosie now possesses the tools with which to defeat the Deity.
Will she be able to save Widdershin from the Wiccan Deity?
I hope anyone who reads it enjoys reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it!
Please check out my website www.janeehill.co.uk for further details or Mirador Publishing, and if you are a novice writer...NEVER give up!

Well I hope everyone had a good Christmas and a wonderful New Year! I know I am a little late but better late than never! I am still very busy writing the new book and hopefully it will be ready and on the shelves within the next 6 months
Christmas was wonderful! All the kids decided to do other things and we had the house to ourselves! A rarity. New Year was a bit more of a nightmare...I was preparing a leg of lamb and didn't turn the cooker up high enough! The meat went in around 1pm and still wasn't cooked at 6pm!!
Oh disaster ensued. Never mind. We got through it and there's always next year...

We were overwhelmed by the number and the quality of entries. Choosing the winners proved to be a monumental task. Our criteria centred on the gifts of story telling and imagination. We believe these should be the overriding considerations, for the exploration of the human condition through the story telling process.
We take great pleasure in presenting this selection by some of the world's most promising new writers and we look forward to working with these immensely talented story tellers on future projects. (Mirador)
'An inspiring collection of new talent. Without publishers seeking the best new writers through anthologies like this, we will lose the gifts of spectacular narrative. These stories will move you to tears, make you laugh aloud and give you terrifying insights into the dark recesses of the human mind!' (The BookReviewer.com)
A genre which I never thought I would dare to venture into, I have found short stories to be a welcoming and satisfying subject.
The ability to choose random subjects and create a stories knowing they will be placed into a book alongside each other regardless of their content or their compatibility is very refreshing.
I hope my anthology brings a smile to the weary traveller struggling through the daily grind. I understand his need for an escape, for a respite. After all, I was once one too.
These whispering dark tales walk through a maze of worlds which will beguile and haunt. A little something to divorce the traveller from the mundane rat-tat of the train or the sequel of the brake on the bus.
take the hand which is offered and wander the maze for moments or hours. Just know that the journey might never make your world feel quite the same again.....

Hello all,
Thought I would put an extract of my published works on my blog!........
Have a read and see what you think! Don't forget it's in the 'MIRADOR FANTASMAGORIA' a collection of works by some very talented new writers from all over the world!
With a nervous glance over his shoulder, he looked back towards his Mother before departing the kitchen.
Approaching the staircase with wariness his heartbeat increased by an alarming rate.
Placing a foot upon the first step, he gulped before beginning the ascent towards his bedroom.
A crafty glance in the direction of the coat stand and the umbrella he had been given for Christmas that year had caught his attention.
A present from his Aunt Flo, the malleable item was transparent with big green ears and a frog’s face.
With rapidity, George purged the umbrella as a source of protection.
Approaching the staircase, he began his ascension.
Once he had reached the offending bedroom door, he paused turning towards the bathroom as he acknowledged a t-shirt hanging from the laundry bin.
Edging along the landing in stealth mode, George ambled towards the bathroom to drag the clothing from the refuge of the washing basket.
Fastening the fabric securely around his chin, determination provided by his t-shirt enabled him to pursue his mission.
With ketchup stains for a mouth and armed with the plastic umbrella, George frowned and marched towards the bedroom door.
Tightly sealing his eyes, he threw open the entrance.
Peering through the narrow breach of one eye, George scanned the room.
Positive everything appeared safe, courageous young George entered the bedroom.
Skating over to the base of his bed, he twirled around while thrusting the umbrella in the air.
Laying on the floor in readiness, George inhaled intensely as gradually he lifted the valance sheet.
Spotting the sock in question, he laid the umbrella upon the floor.
George reached beneath the bed.
Durably stretched, George strained to grasp the fabric as the valance obscured his view
