It's time to organize my studio and regroup for the new year.
I created this painting when I was working with Boris Vallejo and preparing my first illustration portfolio.
I used photos that Boris gave me from his fantasy models collection and was inspired by one of Boris's fantasy paintings.
This illustration took me weeks to complete because it is so highly detailed.

If you are wondering what ACEO means the answer is... Art Card Editions & Originals. They must be made 2.5"x3.5", the size of a baseball card to be official.

it's that time of year again...Getting ready for my studio show and other holiday events.
The hard part is clearing out my studio and making room for new artwork.

I finally finished up my plein air painting of the boats at Northport, Long Island.
Wish I could go back there to paint again but I think it is getting too cold now.

I'm exhausted.
Today, I went to the art exhibit at the Art League of Long Island. www.artleagueli.org/. This show, "A Common Thread" has wonderful paintings by Harvey Dinnerstein and some old friends of mine like Joel Spector and Angela Stratton. I suggest you stop by and see these amazing portraits.
Afterwards, I had lunch at the "Shipwreck Diner" in Northport with Nancy Wernersbach http://www.nancywernersbach.com/. Then we set up our easels by the water and enjoyed painting the boat scene. It was a great day.
My painting needs some finishing touches and then I will post it here.

This small gem was painted on illustration board that I double primed with Liquitex gesso.
The vivid brushstrokes create movement in the water and in the passing clouds.
This 4x5" painting can be displayed on a mini easel or framed and hung on a wall.

This is the last rose in my garden. As the warm weather has ended, I wanted to enjoy this white rose a little longer so I decided to paint all the delicate details and capture the beauty of this flower.

I set the rose against a dark background to contrast all the white tones.

This painting is 5x7" and is painted on Fredrix canvas board that I gessoed to smooth the surface.

This 8x10" painting was inspired by my visit to Key West, Florida.
The light and colors of this sunset were amazing.
I hope I was able to capture this awesome experience on canvas.
