I'm still working on the name. Everything needs a name. Sometimes it helps to work out something clever. Sometimes it's about overstating the obvious. All I know is, you shouldn't be reading this nonsense, you should be looking at the illustrations below. You're going to enjoy them. Unless you don't.

Well, it's probably the way a lot of people do it. We do all the designs and figure out the sizes we want the product to be and then we send all of that information to a company in China and have them make it all.
Here are some pictures they sent us - we're running low on the tote bags we made last year, so we're getting a new, bigger order - and with a couple of additional designs!
This is one of the bags we originally ordered from them, and it's sold well enough that we needed more!
This is one of our newer designs - we did a very small run on them back in December, and they've all but sold out - so we decided to get a bunch.
This is another of our newer designs that we had a small run of in December - this one completely sold out, and quickly - so we had to get more.
And then there's this onion. This is part of our original three tote bags for Happy Pantry. And it's one of our favorite designs. We just didn't like how, this time, the colors turned out. Luckily the company works with us to make sure the quality is up to our standards, so they did a couple of different versions (above) which were not to our liking, and finally figured out that instead of doing the standard screen printing, that they would use a heat press - and the results are below:
It is exactly like our drawing! It translated almost perfectly! So we're excited to get them in. They are currently on a slow boat - and should be in by the end of May!
I remember really liking Doctor Strange when I was young. I feel like I read a lot of those comics - but I couldn't tell you a thing about them. I have no idea who he is or what he does. I know there's magic and that he lives in....um, an apartment on the same block as the cosby show...? Or, at least, that's what I remember....
So maybe I don't know anything about Doctor Strange. But a movie came out - and I drew this shortly before hand. Hopefully the movie holds up to the comic book....that I have no recollection of.
Prince died today. It feels like he was too young. Barring foul play or something lame like suicide - it's kind of tragic to lose someone with this kind of musical talent especially so close to David Bowie's passing.
Of course I wasn't really a big fan of either guy - but still....they had a lot more to possibly give to the musical world.
This movie is coming out soon - and, for some reason, nobody is doing a Doctor Strange....love drawing. I didn't either!
But I want to - in the meantime, I decided to draw the character to get a feel for him first - and here's the line art for that.
I remember reading some Doctor Strange comics when I was younger - but I couldn't tell you anything about them. I remember thinking he had a cooler costume than most....but nothing comes to mind when I think about the story.
There was a time I was totally into Charlie Brown and the whole Peanuts gang. I loved the drawings, the comic strip and the cartoon...I couldn't get enough of any of it. And then I just kind of got tired of the same jokes and the same story lines and I don't know if it was the overall saturation of the brand into everything, but I just wasn't a big fan anymore.
Seeing that the movie was coming out reinvigorated the fan in me. I was suspicious that they were doing a movie in CG, but the characters translated over quite well.
So recently having Charlie Brown on the brain (figuratively), I seem to be drawing a lot of mashups with them. My favorite is still Charlie Brown as Pinhead, because his bald head lends itself to it. But I've recently found a series of drawings that I want to do - and this is the first bit....a hint of what's to come:
I've just laid in the colors, so there are no textures or shading...but I like where it's headed...!
No fool worse than an apple fool...
Hey - you got a worm in your apple....April fool's! But seriously, it's half a worm. Which is worse.
it's not frosting, but it sure is fragrant! But don't take my word for it, take a bite!
I did this illustration about 3 or 4 years ago...obviously as a riff on the Obama Hope poster...
Fairly Odd Parents was entering their 8th or 9th season - whichever one was the one that introduced the dog and we held a t-shirt design contest. This was my design:
Sadly, if I would have thought of it when they introduced Poof, maybe it would have worked - but they went with a design that included the new dog.
Since then we've gone on to the 10th season of Fairly Odd Parents, and Poof is mysteriously absent from the show...so now the design means even less. I always enjoyed the character, especially when he matched wits against his nemesis, Foop.
Before Peter Capaldi came aboard and showed us what a sour old man the Doctor could be, there were rumors about all sorts of directions and shapes the show could move toward. Some said the Doctor could be American (which has already been done, and it was terrible). Some said the Doctor could be a man of color - which could be interesting. And a big rumor was that the Doctor could be a girl. That didn't end up happening, but the Master came back as a woman. And she's quite good!
So that got me thinking - what if the doctor was a girl. And not what if the next one was who's it or what's her nose, but what if the fellas that already played the Doctor were ladies.
And that's where this series of drawings is from - I'm starting with Tom Baker, the 4th doctor and arguably the most popular one until the series revamped a few years ago...
I started this drawing Christmas of 2014, and am just finishing it - so we'll see how quickly this series goes...
Here's a closeup of the Dalek!
I was working on an Adventure Time illustration (fan art) and did a really cute version of Fin...but every time I drew Jake, it felt like I just drew the character that the show already designed...so I kept drawing him until I came up with a few versions that I really liked:
So one of these will be plopped into my Adventure Time illustration and I can finally finish it up. Because it's been sitting unfinished for almost 3 weeks now. And it needs to be finished so I can move on to something else.
My favorite is the bottom one on the left...but the one that fits the illustration the best is the one on the bottom right.
I designed this to be an alien creature who just ate a cute animal. I wanted to make a whole series of them when I suddenly found that a movie called Aliens vs Monsters was coming out and they had a blob creature in it...and even in the promo that blob had something floating inside itself - it was a chair or something, but it was enough to make me change my entire concept.
As it is - I designed two different aliens - this is the first of them:
I didn't know how the toy would actually work. I thought maybe there could be a seam under the lip of the eye, where you could lift it up and actually pull out the little dog who was lying on a shelf inside the blob. Or it could just be a see through blob and you could never really get at the cute dead animal inside (or sleeping animal, if dead animals offend you).
I was designing what i thought would be a cool vinyl toy:
Look at all the colors!?!? The only thing better would be if it was clear and had something floating on the inside.
I designed these in 2009 after attending Designer Con. Back then it was called The Vinyl Toy Show or something, but they made it more inclusive and changed the name. But it's all about the vinyl toys! And people who are making their own crazy toys are doing some pretty terrific things. It was just a little dream to one day have my own toy...and it all started way back in 2009...
Of course I was a little off course, and made bananas and cupcake plushes instead...but still - toy!

We were vendors at the second annual LA Cookie Con this last February 6th and 7th. Did you miss it? Because a lot of people did, even though it was the second one and there was a lot more publicity. If you missed it, you missed out!
Ron Ben Israel was there to lead the demos and talks for the second year in a row. We also saw Kawaii Sweet Treats and Dara the Bow Girl walking around as well - and they gave demos on how to create some of their delicious desserts. We even knew that Duff Goldman from Charm City Cakes was there - and we missed him! Same with Sarah Michelle Gellar, but she missed out on Happy Pantry too, so it's their loss...is what we're telling ourselves...even though it might not terrible true.
It was a two day event and the convention hall was packed with people swarming each vendor looking for samples, merchandise or something delicious to buy and eat later. The lines were long - and I'm sure that made people a little more surly than they necessarily would have been - but there were a lot of open spaces and areas where one could get away from the crowd - and if they were smart, they should have purchased a VIP badge which would have gotten them into two different areas in the convention hall with even more samples and places to hang out, rest and even get a massage!
We had the Fookie on one side and Whatta Cookie on our other side. Both had amazing cookies! The Fookie (which you have to exclaim in a high pitched voice, "What the Fudge is a fookie!?!!?" because that's how they did it whenever someone asked) is half cookie and half fudge. They gave us two bars to try, and our assistant the first day, Maria, decided to take them both home and eat them all by herself because she's mean. So we had to buy more the second day. It was worth it! Seek out the Fookie - it's delicious! It was Whatta Cookie's first con - and they were champs - they were also smart and brought a lot of help - so they handled the crowds quite well. Their cookies were so good! I tried to buy some, but they insisted I just take a complimentary bag. They were terribly nice and have delicious cookies!

Working on another Star Wars drawing....
Happy Valentine's Day everyone! Thanks to all the people who supported us - we have been thrilled how well received Happy Pantry has been.
Like ice in one's veins...so are the days of our lives. Cold, that is. So very cold.
Speaking of cold - how 'bout that ice? Not just any ice - but how about that ice in the cup in front of you right now? Or whenever it is that you have a cup in front of you, how about that ice?
My niece, Chole, was overheard philosophizing, "I like ice, it's like free refills for your water!"
So we immortalized her words in a Happy Pantry drawing. Bless her sweet simple little mind.
It's best to kiss the kettle before the water starts boiling.
afterwards, all you're doing is kissing your lips goodbye. And, possibly, the respect of your peers.
The Second Annual LA Cookie Con is this weekend! We had a booth at the first one in Pasadena - and it was such a huge success, that they expanded it to two days and then upgraded the venue to the Los Angeles Convention Center. So many more people will be attending this event, it's going to be incredible!
Hopefully!
We are taking Happy Pantry once again - and will be at booth 505!
We all know that juvenile jalapenos are the most dangerous kind. They don't know their own strength and release their spiciness all at once.
I'm pretty sure that works with the young of all dangerous things, not just snakes. That's science.
Sketchy science, to be sure - but science none the less.
Why waste all that chewing time when you can DRINK your daily requirement of fruits and veggies!?!
Also - if people disliked eating fruits and vegetables so much, why hasn't anyone invented a better system of imbibing these horrid things? Blending and juicing get us closer than we've ever been to it - but juicing is stupid because you're not filling your belly with the goods, just a lot of sugar and maybe a small portion of nourishment. There should be a pill that you can chew on that tastes like something other than chalk....
Until then, we'll use our blenders the responsible way. That's right, I started talking about juicing only to flip the script and whack you over the head with my blended drink goodness. It's for your own good.
Sure he's a blender, but he moonlights as a juicer on the weekends...
I is for introverted Ice Cream - this is the 9th possible illustration for our almost alliterative alphabet book...if we were going to make a book, it just might be this one!
Poor little ice cream doesn't like to get out. Mostly because he starts melting as soon as he leaves his freezing house...and people are always trying to eat him.
He's hot tempered because he tastes like Tabasco Sauce.
And we all know Tabasco Sauce tastes disgusting. I'd be fired up too...
Remember how we said we were going to show up at WonderGround Gallery - because they asked us, not because we were in town and wanted to visit - well here are a couple more promos we made to get the word out!
We're excited to announce that we've been asked to showcase Happy Pantry at the WonderGround Gallery in Downtown Disney this next weekend!
January 9th and 10th you'll find Happy Pantry in Anaheim (in Downtown Disney) from 1-4.
Welcome to 2016. It always strikes me as a fairly silly celebration - as the change in date only matters when one writes a check - and who's writing checks these days? Other than that, it feels rather arbitrary - I mean, I guess it happens every 365 days or so (leap year kind of screws up that number), but nothing really changes. At least with daylight savings time, you get an hour of light and dark depending on which direction you're looking....but with the change in year? It's just a time to spend 4 times the amount to eat in a restaurant really really late.
Our tradition is that Tracey goes to bed by 10 and I try to stay up but usually start fading around 11:30 and I celebrate by closing my eyes at 11:45 and waking up in the new year.
So...Happy New Year...?
