8. More Sketchbook Drawings

While on vacation my son and I were building sand castles and playing with these plastic alligator toys. You know the really generic alligator toy that every boy grows up with that you buy from a bin at a dollar store. Those cheap gator toys inspired an idea for alligator space fighters.

10. Green Monster

Wow. I hadn't posted to my blog in a long time. I have been so busy with so many different things that it is hard to get time to work on my own projects. Here is a quick monster study.

11. Pirate dog and friend

I had a short bit of free time and I used it to create this piece of art. At least I didn't waste it watching television or playing video games.

13. Drawing on my new Samsung Galaxy Note

Here's a short little video of how I drew this character above using my Samsung Galaxy note. I colored the creep in Photoshop but all of it was drawn on the tablet.

I just had a little bit of free time so I created this monster tonight. Just my own little fun project that kept me from working on projects that I really need to finish.

16. Sketchbooks for SALE!

I didn't really think this would take off and become such a huge hit, but my sketchbooks are selling a bit faster than I was ready for. I have these wonderful hardback sketchbooks that I am selling here LINK on my web store. I draw an image on the front cover and the I draw a nice sketch on the inside of the book and leave it up to you to fill up the other 160 pages of the book with your wonderful drawings. I don't take commissions on the sketches, you get what you get. Sort of like buying a pack of trading cards, you just get surprised. Here are some of the images that I have drawn on the books that have already sold.

You can order your sketchbook by going to my web store here LINK.

17. Spiderbite Animation

Here is an animation I created for my Spiderbite app based on my book Drawing With Letters: The Haunted Creeps and Ghastly Ghouls of Spiderbite. The app is now available on the iPad and the iPhone and this animation is tucked away somewhere on the inside of the haunted home known as Spiderbite. This is my longest animation to date and was a lot of fun to create, but a lot of work to. It seems with every video I attempt there is a great deal of learning, guessing, trying and failing but it always works out in the end....most of the time. Here is a LINK to the book if you are interested in seeing that too.
-Steve Harpster

p.s.- the app is also called Drawing With Letters: The Haunted Creeps and Ghastly Ghouls of Spiderbite and is available for the iPhone and iPad for $1.99

If you are short you will more than likely be assigned a PO Box that is up high and hard to get to and if you are tall you will get a box located down low.

23. Godzilla vs. Godzilla

When the U.S. attempted to make a Godzilla movie I was really excited. I went and saw it opening night. Um, the only problem with the movie....it wasn't Godzilla! First of all, this might seem sexist but I always thought of Godzilla as a male creature not a female. Godzilla is also a man made creation that comes back to haunt man. It's as reckless as a tornado, earthquake or an atomic weapon. It has no regard for man. Godzilla simply destroys the city then returns to the ocean leaving the people shocked and feeling small and helpless. In the U.S. version Godzilla is a doting mom, caring for her brood of eggs as she gently runs through the city dodging military aircraft. Oh, and one more thing, no nuclear fire breath....really?

24. Just drawing and drawing

So this is something that I enjoyed drawing, but I have no idea why I drew it. I don't know why the monster is holding a book and an iPad. I don't know why the kid is running form the monster and I don't know why the monster is so happy. Anyways, the fun is just drawing even if you don't know why or what it means.

25. Graeter's Dragon

For those unfortunate souls out there that have never had Graeter's ice cream I really feel for you. It is the best ice cream on this planet. Now I love ice cream, and I eat all kinds, but when I want something really amazing I get Graeter's. If you are ever just driving through Columbus or Cincinnati make sure to treat yourself to a Graeter's cone.
