1. Spring

Okay... It's not quite Spring! But here in Texas, it sure feels like spring comparing to all the northern states that have been bombarded with snow all winter long. I love birds and was just playing around with the textures and colors... Just having fun for a change.

2. SFG: Round

Every week, I say that I want to participate in the challenge, but something happens.... Here's my submission for "Round". I am trying to do a lot more loose and fairly fast doodles.

3. Happy Holidays!

One of my favorite things this year was to work on the development of these two lovable characters... Mountain and Jingles. You can imagine that it makes for a fun client as well...lots of freedom and lots of creativity. This is their Christmas Card and focus on the simple things in life, like being with the ones you love...appreciating every minute. And they just want peace for this crazy world of ours. To a happy, healthy and creative 2008!

7. Let’s hit the water!

Ok! So I have not posted nor commented on anyones art in a couple of weeks... My apologies!
I know that I am squeezing my SFG Challenge picture at the very last minute, but I had to submit one of my favorite illustrations. Please note that my character does not hang out with Nicole Ritchie nor has any eating disorder, she just happens to have a high metabolism. Enjoy!

8. Getting ideas

Where do you get your ideas?

Lately M and I have been taking an hour each night to walk or ride bikes. It's been a while since we had enough time to do this (or since the weather has cooperated for days in a row).

I get ideas when I'm walking and biking, especially when I'm not talking.

I get ideas from looking around when I'm quiet.

Like last night:

the five dogs stuck on the other side of their electric fences (love those invisible walls...and really, thank you to the person who invented the electric fence...)

the woman raking last fall's leaves

the people who plant daffodils for the town. One wears a sun hat. The other has a bandana tied around her head. Which one is the old lady and which one is the young man?

an old couple strolling, arm and arm.

And believe it or not: another harmonica in the gutter. It's the third I have found. You think I'm supposed to listen to this??????

9. The Stoned Seniors Comic Strip

It has been a long time since I have tried to draw any sort of comics. As a kid, I used to create all sorts of characters and make up all sorts of stories. Fast forward a couple of years (multiplied by 10) and I have re-discovered the pleasure of telling stories through Mountain and Jingles, the characters that I created for the Stoned Seniors website.

http://www.stonedseniors.com

My goal is to introduce a strip every week, which will tell the adventure of these offbeat, peace loving, three hugging senior citizens. They might not be your grandparents, but I am sure that there's a lot of Stoned Seniors out there. I would love to get feedback and suggestions.

12. Older, Wiser and Still Smoking!

Ok! So ever so often you meet someone who seems a little bit off or who you don't think is very serious... They tell you that they have an idea and they want to hire you to design a logo and characters based on this idea... and this is more or less what happened and how Stoned Seniors came about. Meet Mountain and Jingles, not your usual grandparents.. but very lovable.

This has been an incredibly fun project to work on...And I think that my favorite part has been able to design an anti war t-shirt and poster... I look forward to the further development of these characters and to help tell their stories...one drawing at a time. I would love to get your feedback!

You can pay them a visit at:

www.stonedseniors.com

Here you can see the sketch for a t-shiirt design submitted to the client... and then the final art created in Illustrator.

14. Heroes have bad days!

Well... I normally don't draw superheroes... I thought about Jeff's email and thought that even Super Heroes have days that they feel under the weather... and not so confident about their powers... so when Captain America is under the weather (Pun intended) and not fighting crime, he protects himself with his shield. This is a very loose sketch done in Painter.

16. Superhero "Tie Thing"

Ok... This is something from my archives, but I did not want to miss my first SFG challenge. He's not wearing the red and blue outfit, but he definetly has the Superhero "Tie Thing" going on. Is that cheating?
