1. 13 Panels from TCAF in audio and the heartbreaking Doug Wright Awards

20160517050636-9f78db40-laJamie Coville has, as always, recorded the best of the panels from TCAF, including a shocking number in which I participated. YOU can hear the audio of the panels here and the DWAs here. The DWAs are notable for the extraordinary remembrance that Seth offered or Dawwyn Cooke and also the induction of James Simpkins into the Giants […]

tcaf2016_Lg  I’m working on a longer account of TCAF for PW, but here’s some photos to capture the high while it’s fresh. While the weekend was tinged with sadness over the passing of Canadian native son Darwyn Cooke, the general mood was a celebration of the kind of creative spirit that Darwyn embodied. TCAF s always a chance to catch […]

4. Doug Wright Awards art auction

The Doug Wright Awards for Canadian cartooning are hosting another annual art auction to help raise funds. This year, the line-up of Canadian comic art is (mostly) inspired by DC Comics. Check out Chester Brown’s Batman. I want an entire book that looks like that.

The auction is now live and features pieces by Chester Brown, Jillian Tamaki, Joe Ollman, Michael Cho, Bryan Lee O’Malley, Kate Beaton, Marc Bell, Jeff Lemire, Lynn Johnston, Diana Tamblyn, and Drawn’s own Matt Forsythe and myself.
