1. In Which We Discuss You Tube, BARGAIN DEALS, Seinfeld, Orny Adams, Orange Blossoms

Did I ever tell you you're my hero? haha

Did I ever tell you I have a You Tube channel? Please check it out! Danette Haworth You Tube Channel Great stuff for authors, including an interview with Barnes and Noble CRM, Geoffrey Shoffstall.

Bargain deals: Violet Raines Almost Got Struck by Lightning is available in HARDCOVER FOR LESS THAN $5.00 ON AMAZON! Perfect for your middle-grade reader this Christmas! Also, I've been keeping a craft book open as I work on my new manuscript--lit agent Mary Kole's Writing Irresistable KidLit, available in paperback and ebook. Perfect for the writer on your Christmas list! Look for my review soon!

JERRY SEINFELD and ORNY ADAMS! On separate dates in January, I get to see Jerry Seinfeld at the Bob Carr, Orlando, and Orny Adams at the Improv! I cannot wait! I've never seen Seinfeld live before, but I have seen Orny and he was excellent. Not only that, but he did a meet-and-greet afterwards and was so patient with me and my sister, spending probably fifteen minutes or so with us because my iPhone camera was flaking out (which, honestly, worked out, because we got to spend more time with Orny!). The only thing that could make the new year better? Brian Regan tickets in February? Dare I to spend more money on comedy

And finally, Casey and I were hanging around in the backyard today, and I swear I smelled the sweet, powdery scent of orange blossoms. My neighbor's trees are ornamented with perfectly round, shiny oranges, but no blossoms. A close inspection of the greenbelt behind my yard (read: marsh populated by gators, river otter, rattle snakes, scorpions and more) revealed some kind of weedy tree, resplendent with tiny white buds, emitting the sweet perfume.

That is all for today! Tomorrow, back to work!

2. Wiggling Into Your Own Style

Almost 20 years ago I remember watching ABC TV with my toddler daughter when a clip of four weird men in skivvies singing ‘Rock a Bye Your Bear” came on. I remember thinking the song was clever, and Murphlet 2 enjoyed it too. Little did I know that those men, who were The Wiggles, would go on to become a huge international phenomenon – or that for years to come, long after my youngest grew out

4. Are books dead?

www.youtube.com/qtv

"With the arrival of digital readers some in the book world are wondering if their industry will follow the music industry's lead of online content quickly becoming king over hard copy.

Chip Kidd weighs in on the subject. He's been called the "world's greatest book-jacket designer" and USA Today has labeled him "the closest thing to a rock star" in the world of book-cover design. Jian gets into Chip Kidd's craft as well.

5. Getting Excited!

Just 5 more days for the opening of the newest Harry Potter film, THE HALF BLOOD PRINCE, based on book 6 in the 7 book series.
Of course, I'm looking forward to seeing the film. Harry, Ron and Hermione are now legend!

I also love the Weasley twins, and Luna Lovegood. And even Draco Malfoy-bad boy extraordinaire.

New cast members include Freddie Stroma as Cormac McLaggen, the obnoxious Gryffindor who wants to play Quidditch keeper and whom Hermione invites out to make Ron jealous, Jessie Cave as Lavendar Brown, Hero Fiennes-Tiffin as 11-year old Tom Marvolo Riddle, Frank Dillane as 16 year old Riddle, Helen McCrory as Narcissa Malfoy and Jim Broadbent who plays Horace Slughorn.

Albus Dumbledore, Professor McGonagle, Hagrid, Lupin, Tonks, Mr. & Mrs. Weasley, and more are of course back in action. As is the evil one, Lord Voldemort.

The trailers are enticing. Here's one:

The HP chatter online is increasing, with discussions about the prolific talents of the supporting cast, a countdown until the movie opens at Mugglenet, and reports of fans and their many methods of expressing their own magic.

But nothing beats the wiki, which lists the entire cast, has a great synopsis, and three different trailers, with a list/links of all TV spots and other media releases collected in one place!
You can see tons more photos, like the ones posted in this blog, here.

Bellatrix and Snape-(c) Warner Bros. Pictures.

The only gripe I have so far is that Romilda Vane is far too pretty!

While most of the news is positive, there's the bit about Vincent Crabbe, caught growing marijuana. Do you think that has anything to do with casting him as a bad guy?

And one final note: this current HP fix will have to do for a long time. The last book will be made into a movie, split into two parts. The first part is due out November 2010 and the second part isn't due until July 2011.

6. 349. Some Saipan You-Tube Picks

I like this. Tom Borja.

(He's got some other clips on You Tube, but he sings on them. I don't like those.)

And here's a clip posted by Alvin Bodic of the "Feel Good Vibe"--love the music, not quite sure about the vocals. There's an effect there, though, so yeah...

9. 189. Politics from a different perspective

HALFWAY DOWN THE DANUBE has an interesting discussion going on about the democrats and McCain. (Click this 189. blog post title for link.) A view from western-Asia, eastern-Europe.

Definitely worth checking out, and definitely worth clicking on the links provided -in the HDTD blog, and in the comments.

I love the videos on HDTD--both the Obama one (linked) and the "McCain" take-off (embedded).

Right now, I'm still rooting for Hillary Clinton, but if Obama wins the nomination, I'm going to add those videos to my blog, too.
