1. Photos from opening day at "Time Intrusionator" exhibit!

That's me in the chair in, posed with the other artists in the exhibit (from left to right) Craig Orback,
Richard Jesse Watson, Julie Paschkis, along with the director Stephanie Lile in front of one of my murals.

2. Richard Jesse Watson - (relatively) New Blog

Readers of this blog may remember the field trip that my critique group took at the end of January to visit the home and studio of fabulous children's illustrator Richard Jesse Watson.

Well, I am so pleased to announce that he has since then started blogging .

We had discussed various online networking and marketing approaches during out day together, and I tried rather strenuously to twist his arm re: blogging, I think. :-) For not entirely self-less reasons either. He is a completely delightful human being, who (along with his equally delightful wife) leads a rather enviable, thoroughly artistic life. And I, for one, am looking forward to reading more about it as it happens.

3. Field trip - Part 4

Here's the next addition in the cool-artist-environs posts! :-)

Richard Jesse Watson's studio is a fervent mixture of diverse, creative sundries.

Art and objects galore!

We enjoyed poking around and looking at *everything* - from art books to original art to sketchbooks to experimental pieces.

Every inch was filled with fun, and 'stuff'. (Like mine is filled with stuff. Just not as fun of stuff. And mine's not nearly as large so that it *can* be filled with so much fun stuff. [Insert pout?]).

We asked lots of questions and got enthusiastically answered and shown ever so many wonderful things and exposed to new and interesting ideas -

Like a whole counter full of objet d'art (or rather found objects being transformed into flying saucers... Why not??)
Maybe if I feed my studio more, it will grow up big and tall like Richard's...?

4. Field trip - Part 3

Another common thread amongst many of the artists I know is that not only are they creative in their approach to their environments, but also in their approach to food!

Behold - lunch! as an art form.

Can I tell you how charming and generous the Richard Jesse Watsons' are?

Not only did they allow us to come meet them and see their home and studio -

-but fed us a luscious lunch with all the gourmet fixings.

(That's one thing our POBL group does well - we sure do enjoy eating well!)

And our leisurely and conversation filled lunch was no exception.
