ME BEFORE YOU was a breakout novel for the enormously talented author, Jojo Moyes . With the film version set to hit theaters this summer, even more people will fall in love with the world created by Ms. Moyes. I dare you to watch this trailer and not cry.
And if you’ve already read ME BEFORE YOU, and don’t know what to do with yourself until June 3rd, pick up a copy of the sequel, AFTER YOU.
A new official trailer has been unveiled for Me Before You. The video embedded above offers glimpses of Emilia Clarke as Louisa Clark and Sam Claflin as William Traynor.
TIME reports that the story for this film adaptation comes from Jojo Moyes’ 2012 romance novel. The author “worked on the screenplay with Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber.”
According to USA Today, the movie “features a genre-covering swath of British stars, including Doctor Who’s Jenna Coleman (as Louisa’s sister), Harry Potter’s Matthew Lewis (as Louisa’s longtime boyfriend) and Game of Thrones star Charles Dance (as Traynor’s father).” The theatrical release date has been set for June 3. THE SHIP OF BRIDES by Jojo Moyes
1946. Four women from Australia are bound for England along with 650 other war brides on the HMS Victoria. This ship is not only transporting brides, but naval officers as well. Rules of honor, duty, and separation are strictly enforced but what happens within the confines of this ship will leave a lasting impact on all of their lives. A gorgeous historical novel told from the point of view of four unforgettable women; pregnant Margaret, wealthy Avice, teenage Jean and quiet Frances. Frances was by far my favorite character but I was fascinated by all of the women Jojo Moyes created. The Ship of Brides is based on real events, women traveling great distances by sea to meet up with their GI-husbands, most leaving their entire family behind for men they barely knew. Jojo Moyes is steadily becoming one of my favorite authors and the stories she weaves are absolutely stunning in detail with honest characters, captivating plots, and superb writing.

What better book to talk about on Valentine's Day than a love story that brought me to tears? Because, really, all great love stories result in me sobbing. It's true.
Me Before You introduces us to a the Lou, a daughter, sister, girlfriend, and waitress at a cafe with a rather predictable, monotonous life. She's not entirely satisfied with how she is living, but she enjoys her job and loves her crazy family very much. Her boyfriend isn't that bad either and she knows she has it better than a lot of people. A strange manner of thinking, no?
When Lou finds herself unemployed after the sale of her beloved cafe, she mopes around for awhile, eventually finding employment at the wealthy home of Will Traynor, an active man left a quadriplegic after a terrible accident. Will is depressed, angry, confrontational, and completely obnoxious. Lou is his new companion -- totally out of her comfort zone and terrified of her new charge. She has no idea what she's doing and Will is definitely not any help.
What starts off as incredibly rocky relationship morphs into the quirkiest of love stories. Will and Lou create a strange, but completely plausible sort of love/hate relationship while the reader gets to witness the miracles of love, friendship, companionship, and loyalty play out on the pages. Lou has this brightness to her that brings a light to Will's world, though whether or not it's enough light to fully open his eyes to his new life ends up being the ultimate question.
I'm not a fan of love stories in general, but this is definitely not the average romance novel. In fact, it was recommended to me by the wonderful
Jenn, who is a self-proclaimed hater of romance novels. If you're skeptical, pick it up anyways and let me know what you think!
This sounds like a must read!
