[Rebecca Zanetti] Crazy, fun, loyal, analytical author

[Manga Maniac Cafe] Can you tell us a little about Rising Assets?

[Rebecca Zanetti] Absolutely! RISING ASSETS is a best friends to lovers story set in a small Montana town where everybody not only knows everyone else’s business but feels just fine getting involved in private matters. In fact, there are no private matters. So, when Colton Freeze starts to fall for his best friend, Melanie Jacoby, the town creates a bet on when they’ll actually get together. This is the third book in the series. In the first two books, Colton’s older brothers find their own sexy happily ever afters.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] Can you share your favorite scene?

[Rebecca Zanetti] My favorite scenes are often the first kiss of the couple, and here it is:

His mouth was on hers before she finished saying his name. Heat and power slammed from the kiss, and her mind swam.

Fire lashed through her so quickly her knees weakened. Her nipples scraped his chest, and lava consumed her. Her eyes fluttered shut, and she fell into the storm created by a man much more dangerous than she’d known.

She kissed him back, her body alive, her mind shutting down.

There was nothing but the whirlwind of impossible need cascading around them, through her, into her, beyond her.

The kiss was hard, angry, and more passionate than she could’ve dreamed.

Many times, they’d come close to kissing, but one of them had always backed away. With a grin, or a joke, they’d escaped ever taking the chance. The one thing Melanie knew for sure was if Colton ever kissed her, if he ever showed her that side of him, there’d be no turning back. Ever.

As he released her mouth to pin her with a dark gaze, there was no question he knew it, too.

Determination filtered through his eyes, and his jaw firmed. Something new and intriguing fluttered alive in her abdomen. Satisfaction lifted his lips as her eyes widened.

Holy crap. Colton Freeze didn’t want to turn back.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] What gave you the most trouble with the story?

[Rebecca Zanetti] This is such a great question! Let’s see…I guess it was the conflict between the couple. I mean, I knew they should be together, the reader will know…so why aren’t they together? I’ve always been a jump first and think later type of gal, and these characters had to be different than me, because they needed to think before leaping. I guess that was a little tough to write because I would’ve jumped. But with their backgrounds, they stayed true to their personalities. Although if you ask me, love always wins.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] What’s one thing you won’t leave home without?

[Rebecca Zanetti] Hmmm. I try to never leave home without a bottle of water. For some reason, when I’m in the car, I manage to get those sixty ounces in that we should drink every day. Yep. Water.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] Name three things on your desk right now.

[Rebecca Zanetti] Kate Middleton. ? I would love to be that poised for an entire day, and I’d truly enjoy being able to play with the palace’s jewels and wear a real tiara.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] You have been granted the use of one superpower for one week. Which power would you choose, and what would you do with it?

[Rebecca Zanetti] Oh man, this is a fun question! I’d want the power to heal with my touch, and I’d go around and heal everybody I know of any ailments or illnesses they may have right now. And since it’s my power for a week, the healing would take effect, and those people would be healed forever.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] What are some books that you enjoyed recently?

[Rebecca Zanetti] I just finished Robin Covington’s Sex and the Single Vamp, and it was awesome. Before that, I read Jill Shalvis’ Rumor Has It, and I loved it.

Question #7: What’s the sexiest fantasy you’ve had about your leading lady?

Ian: Well, there was the shower thing, but we’ve done that. And then there was the Halloween, incognito thing, but we’ve done that too. Then, of course, there was the bondage thing, and, yep…you guessed it…

Grayson: It involved bending her over my desk…

Trick: How much time do you have? Not a lot? I’ll just tell you the dream I had last night, then. We were at a little Italian restaurant tucked into a dark corner. Right when the waiter came over, I ducked my hand under the table and slipped it between Gracie’s legs. She was wearing a skirt but no underwear, and as soon as I touched her, her face went all pink and her eyes got glassy. She was so hot and…*clears throat* anyway, when it was her turn to order, her voice did that sexy little hitch it does? She didn’t move away though. She just sucked in a shuddery breath and asked for a glass of wine. When the waiter left, she looked me dead in the eyes and said “You better be prepared to finish this, buddy. And remember, payback is a bitch.”  That was a lie. Because payback? Was fucking mind-blowing.

Derek: I’m working late and she comes into the police station. Dripping wet from the rain. I can tell she’s feeling a little desperate for me. Which is perfect, since I’m always desperate for her. As usual, I’ve been growing restless…I always do when I’ve been deprived of her too long. Without a word, I walk her to my office and tell her to strip while I look my fill. Then I put her on my desk, where she’s been inhabiting my head for hours. Then I make her ask nicely for every thrust of my hips.

Jett: The moment I saw that Kink Kit in Allegra’s hotel suite, I imagined exploring what was in that box with her. Tying her up, teasing her mercilessly…oh yeah, frigging hot.

Landon: Refer to the law firm encounter mentioned above. Steff bent over the counter, her firm, supple body bared to my touch, her moans echoing off the walls… *clears throat* Next question, please.

Question #8: Favorite comfort food?

Ian: Bourbon or whiskey

Grayson: Breakfast food–eggs, French toast, bacon, hash browns.

Trick: Rib-eye steak, medium rare, baked potato with sour cream and butter, creamed spinach on the side, followed by Apple pie with caramel sauce.

Derek: Ginger’s chicken pot pie. The way she keeps trying to improve the recipe…she doesn’t realize I love it just because she made it.

Jett: Pav. Nothing beats the perfect Aussie pavlova. Meringue base, lashings of whipped cream, topped with strawberries and passionfruit. Best comfort food ever. Plus there’s always whipped cream left over and I can think of many sensual uses for that…

Landon: Pizza at Mama Leone’s, with optional garlic enhancements. Ah, the memories.

I am pretty game to read anything with the Entangled name printed on the cover.  I have discovered a lot of great new to me authors among their various series romances, so when I won a copy of Wicked Heat, I was all geeked to read it. I’ve read Nicola Marsh previously, and I enjoyed her other books, so when I had a break in my schedule, this book got cued up on the Kindle.

This is a hot, fast read.  Allegra is not having the best luck lately; she’s been dumped right before her wedding, and her advertising agency is on the skids.  She’s lost a big client, and some prospective new business signed elsewhere.  Desperate, she decides to risk everything on the pitch of a lifetime to score a luxury resort empire’s advertising dollars.  If she can get this done, her agency will be set for life.  It’s only after she meets Jett, a flirty, sexy Australian who is also traveling to the resort island, that she finally begins to understand that there’s more to life than working and being in control all the time.  She had been willing to marry a friend of her parents for his business connections, and now she’s thankful that didn’t work out.

Jett is at a low point in his life, too.  His best friend since childhood has been fleecing their ad agency for years, and now it’s tumbling into bankruptcy.  His partner has fled for greener pastures, leaving Jett to wallow in the mess.  Desperate to get his career back on track, he is determined to win the same account that Allegra is after.  With his pride in tatters, he finally sees something to shake him out of the doldrums.  Allegra is striding very determinedly though LAX, leaving a trail of lingerie scattered behind her. 

From the moment they meet, the attraction between Jett and Allegra combusts.  They can’t keep their hands off each other.  Allegra sees Jett as an opportunity to put her dull, restrained love life in the past, and a chance to really let go and have the time of her life.  She lives for her agency, so she isn’t expecting anything long lasting from the cocky Jett, so she’s surprised when she begins to develop feelings for him.  She knows that their relationship can’t go anywhere; they don’t even live on the same continent!  When she discovers that Jett’s on the island to pitch the resort business, too, she’s dismayed.  She can’t just tell him that she’s there to do the same thing, with an almost identical pitch!

The major conflict is Allegra’s inability to level with Jett about why she’s at the resort.  It keeps her worried and distracted, giving Jett the impression that she’s cool and detached and not really that into him.  I think this would have worked better as a shorter book, and I found my attention wandering from time to time.  I loved the setting, and both the beginning and the ending.  There were a few times during the middle that I thought both Allegra and Jett needed to grow up.  Jett in particular acted like a petulant little boy when he found out that Allegra hadn’t been completely honest with him.  Now, seeing that he’s still stinging from her friend’s betrayal, some of his behavior made sense, but I was still disappointed that he was willing to jeopardize what’s left of his career when he decides to get back at Allegra by getting very, very drunk at the very resort he is trying to score business from.

Because this is such a fast read, it’s perfect for little bursts of free time.  Load it up on your phone and you won’t even notice those annoying waits at the store or gas station, because you’ll be too busy wondering how Allegra’s going to come clean and not mess up her hot new relationship with Jett.

Review:

I admit the reason I wanted to read Seducing Cinderella is because of the hunky, tattooed guy on the cover.  I like tats.  More specifically, I like his tats.  Add the ink to one of my favorite romance tropes, and “Hello, book, yes, I’d like to get to know you better!”

Seducing Cinderella is the first book that I have read under Entangled Publishing’s new Brazen imprint.  I will compare this to a Harlequin Blaze, which is an imprint that I read infrequently, and again, it is usually the cover that tempts to me scoop one up.  This is hard, admitting that I am such a shallow reader! Still, with the torrential glut of new releases every week, something needs to catch my eye, and I don’t have time to read all of the plot descriptions, so I guess cover illustration it is!  I certainly don’t pick these up based on the title, some of which are so ridiculous I’m glad that I do have several eReaders!

Back to this book – if this is an indication of the Brazen imprint, I would read more, with no hesitation.  This title did have a few irritating moments, but it is a fun, fast, sexy read.  I liked the characters, especially Reid.  While I was expecting a tougher depiction of his MMA manliness, he is a softie on the inside, and the alpha-idiot only reared its ugly head near the end, for which I am grateful.  I like tender guys, who can make you feel like a million bucks with just a smile and few kind words.  I don’t want to spend the rest of my life in a battle of wills with my guy, which so many category romance heroines seem to be in for.  That just doesn’t seem like fun, and I don’t care how rich the guy is.   If he can’t set aside his own ego for more than a few pages, I can’t imagine what it would be like to be stuck with him for the rest of my life!

Physical therapist Lucie Miller is having a really bad day.  She has been in love with a surgeon she works with closely, and when she thinks he’s about to finally catch a clue and ask her out, he asks for her best friend’s number instead.  Instead of letting him know how she feels, she coughs up the number, waits for him to leave, and bursts into tears in her messy office.  When her new patient arrives early for his therapy session, she’s shocked to discover that it’s her brother’s best friend, Reid, incognito.  Oh, noes!  He can’t help but see her puffy, tear-stained face, and after discovering her troubles, he has a proposition for her – if she dedic
