This series shows the stages of a recent illustration. The steps (in order): the sketch, the final graphite drawing, colors blocked in with Photoshop, the near-complete piece with the drawing Layer turned off, and the final illustration (completed in Corel Painter).
I thought some kids might have trouble with some of the more realistic figures in the book, and that it would be good to give them some easy stuff to draw as well. I first invented the egg-people when I was about 8.
This is from a how-to book I did (without Susan!) for Grosset and Dunlap in '96 called DRAW YOUR OWN SUPERHEROES NOW! It is still available from selected rare-book dealers for $1.50 and up.
Nice to 'see into' the process. I'd like it more if you placed the steps under the images to make it easier to follow.
I really enjoyed this especially the fact that you use both photoshop and painter, very motivating. Also great illustration.
