1. What's New?

It's (kind of) the beginning of the month, and I've updated the What's New page on my website. Here's what I'm up to for January. Though I got an email last night about taking on a very-quick-turnaround book project that would be due Feb. 3. Ack! So the last two items on my "what I'm working on" list might have to wait. I did my business plan for 2010 yesterday, and after crunching numbers, I know I really should take on that book project.

2. What's New? Do You Care?

At the beginning of each month, I update the What's New page on my website. It's a short roundup of what the previous month held. I'm just wondering, for those of you who have sites, do you have a What's New page? If so, how often do you update it?

And for everyone, when you visit author sites, do you have any interest in this page? It feels redundant sometimes, since most of what I mention I've already blogged about at some point, but I guess for non-blog-readers (which would not be you!), it might be somewhat interesting.

Hmmm...just trying to figure out where I'm best off spending my time on site updates, that's all. Thanks for any feedback!

By the way, my school visit yesterday went great (despite some technical issues). Today is 4th-6th grade with an entirely different program, including them reading some of my poems. Who knows what could happen! I'll post more details next week. This week I'm swamped!

3. Sark, United Kingdom

Sark, United Kingdom

Coordinates: 49 25 N 2 22 W

Approximate area: 2 square miles (5 sq km)

Times change, and with them, people and places are carried along on the tide of modernization. But not always. On the tiny island of Sark in the English Channel, feudalism has clung, virtually unnoticed, to its rocky shores since the Middle Ages. In fact, this hereditary form of rule hung on long enough to make it the only feudal territory left on Europe, a continent known (among political geographers at least) for its microstates and puny principalities. (more…)
