Here is a gift wrap collection I designed for Valentine's Day. Check out more of my "Surface Designs" on my website. I just added this catagory, and already I am negotiating an assignment!
I also added a page called "My Process", where you can see how I worked on my latest mermaid illustration.

The stormy blue days make us appreciate the warm and sunny days. ©Kathleen Rietz
In many ways, this design piece is a self portrait. Sometimes it is easier to express myself when I work abstractly. I guess that is why I went through a period where I created 3-D mosaics from glass like it was an addiction. This is a digital mosaic of files originally created in watercolor on paper.

I thought I'd post another design piece for "Momentum". I guess I like to post abstract pieces for this theme because momentum is truly an abstract concept, and the word conjures up such images in my mind. This painting represents the momentum I feel in September, as summer slips into autumn.

When I hear the word "momentum", I think of it as referring to the pace of one's heart or one's life. I thought I would post some of my design work, which always begins with an illustration of mine. I rarely ever post my designs on my blog, but I enjoy creating pattern and design equally as much as I enjoy creating a new illustration. So, I hope you enjoy something different from me this week.
ohh it's very classy Kate, really nice :o)
That is classy and whimsical at the same time. It's obvious you enjoy surface design.
BTW, I am passing the "I Love You this much" award onto you, because I think you're one awesome lady.
I like the sense of depth, and that they seem to be falling. Very nice, Kate!
Oh, you may be happy to know I finally posted something to the food blog, don't get too excited though, it won't happen often, haha.

Hi Kathleen...
thank you so much for your wonderful comment and thoughts about my Grandfather...It is the worst thing to see him fade away...but today he was conscious and we actually talked...I am at the hospital most of the time with him and family...I keep having all these flashbacks of all the great times we have had and seeing him in this condition is heartbreaking...
thanks again for your kindness...I truly appreciate it ...
Hugs
Diana
Thanks so much Kate! You've been wonderful and a great inspiration. Cheers to you! x
