1. Remembering SCBWI author Louise Schofield

graham Hilton, author Louise Scholfield's husbane at The Hughenden, Susanne Gervayauthor Louise Schofield visiting Susanne Gervay at The Hughenden Hotel Woollahra          It  was special to see Louise Schofield’s husband Graham who flew in from Perth to catch up and stay at The Hughenden Hotel in Sydney.

We shared the joy of Louise living in the beautiful bush overlooking the dam and gardens, just outside Perth.

She loved their muscovy duck BALDRICK.

She loved writing and the Australian bush.

Author of 10 books including ‘Secrets of the Tingle Forest’ which won the WA Young Readers Book Award.

it has been a year since she lost the battle with cancer, but she’s always part of the Society of Book Writers & Illustrators Community SCBWI.

The 1st Louise Schofield for Outstanding Services to SCBWI WA was awarded to author Meg McKinlay.

2. SCBWI Misbehaves at Rottnest Retreat – Hint: Karaoke!!!!!

Excuse:

We were writing, talking, working all day

(- except for those who went to their bungalow for cheese and wine – you know who you are!!!!)

We all piled into Rottnest Lodge for dinner but what’s next was the cry from the writers and illustrators?

Karaoke:-

Special mention goes to:-

Walker Publisher Sarah Foster for wild singing and dancing.

Author  Norman Jorgensen for being the wildest and funniest author there

‘I AM WOMAN’ sung be authors Patricia McMahon, Dianne Wolfer, A J Betts, Wendy Binks, me – Susanne, Jan Jorgensen, President of the CBC WA

Illustrators, Samantha Hughes, James Foley … all of them.

EVERYONE for Abba’s ‘Dancing Queen’.
