You know, there aren't many things of real value that you can get for free, especially when it's something that has the potential to change your life for the better . . . to teach you how to be something you've been dreaming of or hone your craft to be the writer you want to be.
Well, The Muse Online Writers Conference is one of those things and it will run from October 3rd through the 9th.
The Muse Conference is an amazing concept. I will plug it this year and every year. It is an astounding opportunity for writers to learn their craft, or a new one, get advice and tips, network, and move forward in their careers.
It is also the place to learn about the marketing end of book writing, how to market you, your books, and your other writing related products or services.
It allows us writers/authors to partake of the knowledge and experience of wonderful writers, authors, editors, marketers, and publishers. And, it gives us the opportunity to PITCH OUR WORK!
Don't miss out on all the valuable information you can get from registering and participating in the Muse Online Writers Conference.
Registrations are open until September 25. After that the forum link to register will disappear so please register today:

JacketFlap tags: writing for children, free writing workshop, Muse Online Writers Conference, basics of writing workshop, Add a tag
Well, the date's set. On May 1st, I'll be giving a FREE one day workshop on the basics of writing for children. I'm HOPING to have the registration information by the end of this week--my fingers and toes are crossed.
The workshop will be through The Muse Online Writer's Conference site. You need to register for the conference (it's FREE). I will post the info as soon as I have it.
I do want everyone to know that much of the information is geared toward all new writers.
Here's an outline of the workshop:
Do you want to write? Do you want to write for children? Have you written a children’s story or other fiction story and aren’t sure if it’s in good enough shape to submit to agents or publishers? Do you know proper punctuation and formatting? Do you know how to show rather than tell?
While this workshop is geared specifically for new children’s writers, it offers the basics of writing in general with additional information for the children’s writer. Some of what will be included is:
The different genres of children’s writing
Point of View (POV) when writing for children
Basic structure, formatting and timeframe (for all genres)
Basic grammar and punctuation (for all genres)
Different methods of writing (for all genres)
Building a three-dimensional character (for all genres)
Showing vs. Telling (for all genres)
Finding age appropriate words
Resources and tools to help you hone your craft (all genres)
This workshop will provide the basics to get you started in the right direction.
You will also have the opportunity to get a critique of up to 250 words of your manuscript or article.

Than You for a very informative post. My BW, the education tipster attended in the last two years and learned a lot. She spoke very highly of it.
Hey, Tony,
I too attended the last two years and learned tons from it. And, I got my book, Walking Through Walls, published through it!
Karen, I plan to attend some of these sessions (thanks for the heads-up in our online critique group.) One question - do you have to be at your computer during the pitch sessions? I've never done these so I don't know what the format of the workshops/pitch sessions are.
Bonnie, YES! It all done online, while you can come and go during the workshops, the pitches are specifically scheduled and you must be online.
