1. Maestro Comes to SECRET WARS and CONTEST OF CHAMPIONS

One of the more obvious teasers run by Marvel in the build up to announce Secret Wars was Dale Keown’s image of Peter David’s Future Imperfect series. Back in 1992, David and George Perez told the tale of a dystopian future where an evil version of the Hulk, known as Maestro, laid waste to the heroes of the Marvel Universe in the Incredible Hulk: Future Imperfect mini series. While he was killed in the  series by the Hulk we know, the character has recently appeared in Spider-Man 2099. Today, Hollywood Reporter announced that a new Secret Wars tie-in would revisit the world of the Maestro.

Set to release on June 3, Future Imperfect by Peter David and artist Greg Land will tell a stand alone tale of the Maestro wreaking havoc on Battleworld. David has also promised a big surprise when readers find out who’s leading the charge against this out of control monster, “I will tell you this: there’s a character in the series referred to as ‘the boss,’ a person who oversees the battle against the Maestro. I feel pretty confident in saying that no-one will be able to guess that person’s identity until it’s revealed on the last page.”

An interior page from the book was also displayed and shows a female Red She-Hulk. Though the writer would not say if the character was Betty Ross as in the current Marvel U.

It was also revealed today that the Maestro is officially the big boss of Marvel’s Contest of Champions mobile game. Currently available on iOS and Android the mobile fighter lets you build a team of heroes or villains as you fight through a tournament in the game’s own Battleworld. The game is free to download and actually is one of their more interesting titles for fighting boredom in convention lines.

2. Marvel Launching Secret Wars 2099

By Davey Nieves

You won’t be able to escape it. Your world and that parallel world where Nationwide didn’t depress everyone is coming to an end, at least that’s what Marvel have been claiming. The only thing we know is come this May you can’t escape the ocean of Secret Wars books. Today Marvel announced yet another, this time the 2099 universe enters the fray.

Secret Wars 2099 will pick up after the end of Spider-Man 2099 (yep, it’s ending) and feature the same creative team of Peter David and artist Will Sliney. While it’s not known at this time if the series will be limited or ongoing; the big draw will be a never before seen team of 2099 Avengers who work for the mega corporation Alchemax. This is also the first book to admittedly not tie-in directly to the Secret Wars event. While it takes place on the same world as the war, David made mention how the series will be a story unto itself and may only mention the events going on. The writer wanted fans to know that it’s both a continuation of the 2099 story and a place for new readers to jump on and enjoy.

Here’s the solicit for the first issue and the art released today:

When everything ends, it’s time to go back to the future. Revisit the world of 2099 and see it a whole new light, as characters who have never been seen before make their first appearances – including the AVENGERS 2099. Can the ideal of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes survive in a world where megacorporations rule with an iron fist?

3. Peter David update: He’s coming home early

Good news from Peter David, the popular writer who had a stroke while vacationing at Disneyland. Because of the incredibly unfortunate timing (not that there is ever a good time to have a stroke) he has been rehabbing in a Florida treatment center, far from his New York home. Wife Kathleen has been updating everyone on his progress and David has been using Dragon Dictation to post to his blog and keep up with work. He's been making good progress, and now some very good news.:

4. Spider-Man, Tiny Titans, Wolverine, Lightning and More!!!

Hello all in the Land of Blog!!!!! (I don't know why but Blogger decided to make my whole post in BOLD) It's Darth Bill with a bunch of stuff to cover, so let's go!!!!!

First we have some additional comments on "The Lightning Thief" movie:

From Nannah V: "I took my two grandsons to see this movie. Jeff is almost 11 and Bobby is 6. They loved it! Now they want to read the book! They are also excited about the two movies they saw intros for. "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" & "The the Last Airbender". Jeff has read all of the Wimpy kid books and they are very big fans of the Airbender cartoon. Personally I agree, I wish the actors looked younger. I have a hard time believing that they were 13. They looked more like 16."

From Mrs. Quinn: "You guys hit most of my beefs with the movie: that Percy was 15 instead of 13, and that the consequent love interest story was more pronounced (really not in the book); that it just wasn't as funny, with Percy being rather flat in the movie and flat-out-funny in the books; that there were lots of changes from the book. I was really hoping for a closer rendering of the book, because its really a great one. I'm concerned that they may not make future movies, just because the story lines in book 1 were truncated, especially the parts that are important for the future movies! But if the money's there, they probably will... STILL, very worth seeing and a fun action flick. AND if it gets kids to read the book(s) - which we already have - then it's all good."

From Anyomous : "It left out my favorite part with echidna and the chimera.
giant fan of the books."

Okay now for some ultra cool Graphic Novel and Comic Reviews:
