Hiya Tappers!

Well, as per usual, I'm busier than...er, um...someone who's real busy. It's been insane both on the work front, the writing front and the warm front we have moving into Minnesota.

Ha ha. See what I did there?

Anyway, I thought I'd shoot out a couple little nuggets of stuff out for those interested in seeing where I'm at with things. It's totally your call. You can stick around and read this or you're more than welcome to move onto the next blog on your huge list.

Tappity Tappity: We're Totally Low Pressure, Yo. TM

Patrick's Super Socks Haiku Contest Du Jour: I'm having a really hard time deciding which haiku I like best. Since my entire staff* has packed up and left for greener pastures, I'm left to decide all by my lonesome. I've got it narrowed down to the 2 I like best, but from there, I'm useless. Hmmm...maybe I should make YOU decide. We'll see how that works. Regardless, I plan to have the winner announced on Monday, which is like April 7th, 2008.

*Editor Note: Tappity Tappity has never had anyone on staff besides TKT. Not even an editor. He's dreaming.

Mount Rushmore Book: Well, it's official. I'm writing a book for Picture Window Books for their American Symbols series, tenatively titled: Mount Rushmore. I had hoped we could call it "A Bunch of Old Faces On a Mountain", but they've got other plans. I got the contract this week, signed it up all nice-like and sent it back post haste. Am I nerd for scanning each and every piece of the contract into my computer for nostalgic reasons? Yeah. I thought so, too.

Number 2: He'll probably want me dead when he's like 13 or so, but lil' TKT dropped a deuce in the ol' thunderbucket last night. It's been a long time coming, so there was much celebrating in the house. Along with this monumental event, he recently started STANDING at the ol' crapper to take care of Number 1. Sorry for the potty talk, but this dad is triple proud, y'all. I'm so happy, I could cry.

Goodhalo: It's been kind of cool. Lately, I've had some people asking how my 'epic' zombie/cleric/adventure is coming along. It's almost like people are sort of excited to read it...or you know, they're tired of hearing about it. One of the two. Anyway, I'm plugging away at Draft #3, and then I'm going to release it to my select crew of beta readers (there's like 6) and I'll get to sit back and wonder if it's any damn good. I'm guessing by then I'll be sketching out the plans for Goodhalo 2 and maybe tinkering with Anna 2.0.

All right. I've taken up enough of your time, but I'll leave you with a bit of Nerdery.

I want THIS:I can has it?

  • I have no idea why Cate Blanchett was nominated for her role as Bob Dylan in the movie I'm Not There. I didn't see the film, but every clip that showed her 'channeling' Bobby D was, well...awful. Not for one second did I buy that she was Bob Dylan. To me it looked like a woman in drag trying (unsucessfully) to emulate BD. Sorry Cate, but I'm glad you didn't nab Oscar gold for that one.

  • What is up with my kid and his potty-training? Glad you asked. He's been doing pretty well on the 'potty' front. The board game I designed (update picture coming soon!) is working like a charm and he's actually on his 2nd time through it. The only problem? He's having a hard time...downloading software, if you catch my meaning. What is up with little guys not wanting to release the hounds? Seriously! I've had him close and I know there's a bullet in the chamber, but as soon as I strap on the Pullups he's wearing...FIRE! He throws mud. In. His. Pants. I'm trying to be patient, but dang...

  • I think Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana is obnoxious.

  • I've been watching Veronica Mars on DVD while I workout at the club these days. I'm halfway through Season 1 and I gotta tell you, it's solid. While it's nowhere near as awesome as Lost, there's plenty to like about it. I went out and bought the other 2 seasons (on the cheap!) and I'm not sure why this show didn't last longer. Maybe I'll know by the end of Season 3.

  • I'm stoked that No Country For Old Men won all kinds of junk on Oscar night. The Coen brothers are from St. Louis Park, MN, so it's good to see local guys do well. Also, when I was an intern at the Minnesota Film Board, I got a non-paying gig to help with some of the local casting of Fargo. Afterward, I got to meet Joel Coen and shake his hand. If anyone's keeping score, he directed my all-time favorite comedy of all time: (seriously...all-time) Raising Arizona. That alone was worth not getting paid.

  • I've got like 8 episodes of Intervention to watch on my DVR. Seriously, if I watched them all in a row, I think they'd need to send Jeff VanVonderen over to my house for MY intervention.

"Well, I've been here since yesterday and I just see a bunch of people who love you like crazy. So here's how this'll work. They're going to say some things and then you get to say some things and then we're all done."

3. List O' Rama

Sometimes I sit behind the mighty wheel of this here blog and I can't for the life of me think of anything even REMOTELY interesting to write about.

Yeah, TKT. We can tell.

Quiet down anonymous voice that isn't really saying anything.

So, for laughs, I'm going to list out stuff as of RIGHT NOW and someday I'll look back on this post and go..."Say what? I actually liked that food/show/video game/book/idea?

Hey, for bonus laughs, why don't you guys do the same? I'll check the comments for your 'lists.' Or, you know, don't.

Be warned, this is completely random, goofy and the result of being kind of crabby today. Plus, I need a nap.

Candy - Orange Tic-Tacs (I was so ahead of Paulie Bleeker from Juno on this one)
TV Show - Lost (best show ever, I'm afraid)
Movie - Shoot 'Em Up
Breakfast Meal - Eggo Nutrigrain waffles with Karo corn syrup (yes, it's clear syrup and it's delicious)
Lunch Meal - Chipotle (when you go, order the TKT special! Chicken burrito bol, rice, black beans, extra chicken all three of the salsas, lettuce. Add liberal amounts of Tabasco sauce)
What? No Cheese or Sour Cream? No cheese. No sour cream. What...do you want to ruin it?
Dinner Meal - Chipotle (see above) otherwise I've taken to Paisano's pizza on which I like copious amounts of meat. If I wanted a salad, I'd order one. Eat it, mushroom lovers!!!
Vending Machine Purchase - I like a nice satchel of Famous Amos chocolate chip cookies.
At This Point I Should Point Out - I'm a sucker for cookies. They're like kryptonite to me, as in...I'm powerless.
Pen - I'm a fan of the Uniball Vision Micro, black. Unless, I'm editing. Then it's the same thing, except...red.
For Laughs - I check Achewood constantly. You either get it or you don't.
Don't Like - Britney Spears news.
Don't Care - About politics. (I know, I know...this is the time for change, etc., etc...)
Cartoon - El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera (Nickelodeon) Best...Cartoon...Ever.
He Who Can Do No Wrong - Movie director Robert Rodriguez
She Who Can Do No Wrong - Musicians Tegan & Sara Quinn (tie)
Best Monster - Zombies! (hello?)
Worst Monster - Grover. (dude is not scary AT ALL)
Most Over-used Monster - Vampires. (we get it with the blood and the sunlight)
Best Natural Disaster - Earthquakes
Worst Natural Disaster - Oprah Winfrey (there go two of my frequent readers...)
Shoes - I'm for shoes. I wear them, I mean.
Tattoos - Not for me, no.
Neck Tattoos - The equivalent of saying: "Lookit me! I need attention!" Also, it's dumb.
Worst State in the Union - New Mexico. (seriously...would anyone miss it?)
Best State in the Union - California (actually, this can change on a weekly basis for me. New Mexico? not so much)
Please Cancel - One Tree Hill (that main dude is too in love with himself)
Why Did You Cancel - Arrested Development?
I Wish I Had - That book deal
I Wish I Didn't Have - So much dang gray hair
Reading - A book from another writer I met online (Hello Steve!)
Also Reading - Song of Susannah by Steven King (ehh...)
Last Best Book I've Read - The Road by Cormac McCarthy (wow, wow, wow)

All right. It's not perfect, but it totally killed about 20 minutes of time and made me feel like I wasn't such a bad blogger. Take a crack at it, yo. It'll make you feel better or something.

I feel better already.
