This morning I was messing on Urban Sketchers, instead of getting on with more boring stuff, and found an old post entitled 'Inspired by Lynne Chapman's Post'. How lovely!
Well, I had to take a look of course. It turned out to be a reference to my trip to the hairdressers earlier this year:
This is the sketch Lapin drew of his hairdressing experience (love the busy fingers!):
Lapin is a fellow illustrator who lives in Barcelona and it turns out that, like me, he has been sketching in Vietnam:
I so love the way The Net helps us make connections that would otherwise be impossible.

To have proof you inspire others is the greatest of compliments I'd have thought. How very nice. I can confirm that your work inspires me too and I adore your self portrait at the hairdressers.
My own mop is being hacked and attacked on Wednesday - but no - I don't have the confidence to sit and sketch at the same time. Sigh ...

If you can't quite find the confidence to draw in public, how about doing 'before' and 'after' self portraits in a sketchbook, in the safety and privacy of home?
it is a wonderful portrait Lynne and definitely an inspiration. Unfortunately, when I get a hair cut the always insist I take my specs off in case they get broken!

Thanks guys. Yes, Julie, I too have to take off the specs for the actual cutting, so that wouldn't have worked, but you have to sit for ages waiting for highlights to take, so I popped them back on again!
Both of these have such great qualities. The busy hands of the hair dresser moving and displaying that movement with line..excellent. Great stuff, i found you through the great site of UrbanSketches, Very inspirering.

You're right: Urban Sketchers is brilliant for finding people doing interesting drawing. I love it and have discovered so much inspiring work. It's what got me back into regularly sketchbook drawing.
