As expected my obsession with short and simple dresses has not subsided. So what am I to do? Start sewing, naturally! But I’m feeling a bit lazy, I despise setting in zippers and want relatively easy sewing projects. So I’ve rounded up some patterns (not vintage!) that seem to fit the bill. The above pattern is Simplicity 2360. It has the same feeling as the Sessun dress from my last post, particularly the yellow print on the left.
New Look, it seems, has a plethora of slip-over-your-head, no-zippers-to-install or buttonholes-to-make dresses and tunics. I think you have to use a bit more imagination here but I see the potential, can’t you?

I don’t have much in the way of fall/winter fabrics as I’m mostly a summer dress kind of girl. But I’m thinking of blacks, grays and navy blues; wool, fine wale cord, linen, super thin and soft denim…even voile or lawn in a dark color. Have any of you used one of these patterns? If so, let me know!
I’ll also do a round up of vintage patterns from my stash. I’ve got a bunch of a-line mini dresses from the ’60s that are really cute although a little more complicated in construction and probably have zippers. (Which is why I’m leaning more towards these new patterns - for now.)
Have a sweet Thursday!
‘Ello, sweets! I hope all of you in the Northern Hemisphere are able to enjoy some warmer weather this week. I have been so inspired by the change I have updated my Etsy shop (fable*) with a ton of vintage (and some new) goodies! Really, really wonderful things that I can scarcely believe I’m parting with. I know these pretties will find their way to good homes so that makes it okay. (Psst - I have also listed items at very reasonable prices too.)
There are lots of sewing patterns, millinery, beads and a couple of lacy, floaty wearables.
Special for blog readers this week: Buy any 2 millinery items, beads or sewing patterns and get the 3rd millinery item, beads or sewing pattern for free (equal or lesser value; through midnight Friday, March 26th, PT). Just leave a note in the “Message to Seller” box when you checkout letting me know what free item you’d like.
Non-U.S. Peeps: Please convo me the item you are interested in, plus your city/country, and I’ll get back to you with a shipping quote.

Good Morning:
It's a lovely morning, but they say rain is coming tomorrow. I love rain and I especially love thunderstorms, but here in Southern California, we rarely get thunder and lightening. Just a few teeny raindrops. Just enough to make traffic slow to a crawl. During the 6 years that we lived in Northwest Arkansas, I learned to smell rain and feel the static of a good summer storm. Here in California, the weather is just as generic as so many of it's residents. So, as I get along in my day, I'll enjoy the sunshine today and pray for thunder tomorrow.
I would like to use this post to introduce you to another of my "groovy artist friends". Check out her blog at BlueJude Musings. Here's a link to her Etsy shop: Art n Joy. She is a wonderful collage/mixed media artist. I have several of her prints and they are joyful and full of dancing color!! And....she's really cool too!!
While I'm at it, I might as well include a picture of my latest print on Etsy. This one is a 5" x 7" print titled: "The Water Watcher". The original was sold a couple of years ago, but I've always kind of liked this one, so thought I would have a few prints made. You can find this print at My Etsy Shop.
I actually have 40 items in my Etsy shop right now!! For me, that's a lot.
Until Tomorrow:

I thought it never rained in southern California...or is that just a song someone wrote. I do love a good thunderstorm. Like you I can smell the ether of thunder, lightening and rain in the air and I love the smell of wet pavement afterwards. Crazy me. I adore this water print of yours...I can feel what the little girl is feeling. Great piece of art! I like to watch water too...perhaps we're kindred spirits of a kind.
KiM - you have delighted my heart & encouraged me beyond what you can imagine...
Sometimes we are the answer someone is seeking. God sends just the right breeze into our lives that calms and revives us - just when we need it.
Thanks for being a gentle breeze this morning on my blog - just when I needed it most.
I cannot waltz in here - this blogland of color & prose - without giving praise to your great talent. Your images and imagery are a gift to all of us who care to dance through your world :)
Thank~you sweet friend!

Hi Kim...you'll have to come to Colorado if you like thunderstorms. Abby used to hate them though and would jump in the bathtub to hide. She was so funny.
Your new "The Water Watcher" is beautiful.
I love thunder storms! The dogs aren't to fond of them. But I think they are just awesome. Good luck with your etsy store. Things have been slow all over so don't get discouraged.
