I’m glad I came but just the same I must be going. La la!
Nothing like starting the day off with a Groucho Marx quote, eh?
So here we are with me running hell-for-leather as quickly out of this country as humanly possible. It’s time for my yearly pilgrimage to Stratford, Ontario for the Shakespeare Festival. Would that I could write this off as a business expense (ho ho). Alas, no such luck. Still and all, off I toddle, to partake of good theater, good wine, and a chance to sit in a hot car with a cranky one-year-old for 9+ hours. When next you see me I will be a changed woman. Think of me fondly for even as I write this I imagine I am probably covered in the splatter of tossed babyfood and wailing human misery (did I mention she has a double ear infection, eye infection, fever, runny nose, and diaper rash?).
More as I can give it to you . . .
Foyles will close its One New Change branch when its lease expires in April 2012 to "free up resources" for its forthcoming Stratford branch and recently opened Bristol shop.
The booksellers at Foyles One New Change will be redeployed within the company. Rebecca Hart, formerly a buyer for Royal Festival Hall and St Pancras branches, will now become the manager of the new Foyles Stratford shop.

Love the Stratford, Ont., festival. Went there during my college days, before leaving Western New York for California many years ago. Really love the your parenthood rant – you are knee deep in it, and of course your journey has only begun! Hope she is better real soon, and that you have a sitter for her in Ont. ready and waiting so you won’t have to miss the theatre. I have two school-aged kids. My blogspot site is so completely not what I want it to be and of course not kept up (I put it up in a few hours two summers ago and have not really done a thing with it – but of course felt obligated to fill it in above!) – and it’s because of the kids, and what I do for the kids, and so on…my Goodreads is my record of book reviews and reading, for now! Enjoy her babyhood, illnesses and all. They grow up so fast!
I LOVE this festival and we attend every year. Celebrating their 60th this year, they have an amazing line up. You will not be disappointed!
Ah for the good old days, when my children went wherever I took them and had not yet learned the age-old, practiced arts of negotiation, complaint and defiance. Still, I have hope of getting at least one teenager to accompany me to Shakespeare in the park this year – if I can only think of an appropriate bargaining chip. Enjoy!
Yes, I went, too, during my Michigan days, and loved it. Hang in there, next thing you know Little Bird will be driving you up to the Shakespeare Festival. . . What play(s) are you seeing? Send my regards to the Bard.
Ahhhhh! I miss Stratford so much!!! The MSU Honors College used to organize trips there every year. <3 <3 <3 Have fun!
