Quick break from Rainbow Reads for something I've suggested for a couple of weeks.
Stephen King readathon! I want to do this because I'm loving watching Under the Dome, I enjoyed some of his stuff a couple of years ago, and I feel I should read some more of his stuff. What better time than Halloween (ish), eh?
Anyway, if anyone else wants to take part, please do.
- It would happen from Monday 14 till Sunday 20th October.
- There will be no prizes for participating, except hopefully having read and enjoyed books from a prolific horror/suspense author.
- I will be doing this regardless of whether or not anyone else joins me.
- All my reviews will be posted in the days leading up to Halloween.
- Any participants should totally follow for follow and keep in touch and things.
- Spreading the word would be awesome.
I hope you enjoy, if you choose to join me.

Since my book binging at Borders careened out of control, I thought it timely that Amanda from On a Book Bender is hosting the Bout of Books Read-a-thon. Though I won’t have much time to read due to work, I will make the best of the few free hours available to try to take a chip out of my TBR pile.
The Bout of Books Read-a-thon starts Aug 22 and runs through Aug 28. You can read more about it here and here.
My goals are pretty simple – I just want to get through a few books before the massive TBR pile topples over and crushes the life out of me. I have no idea what I am going to read, and will probably just grab random books out of the stack. I do want to finish up these:
Knight’s Curse by Karen Duvall
The Centaur’s Daughter by Ellen Jensen Abbot
Island’s End by Padma Venkatraman
Anything read after these will be a bonus. I will mainly be updating on Twitter and Goodreads, with a wrap-up post that you can read if you are interested in my process.
There is still time to sign up! Click here for details.
Well, today was rather unproductive. I stayed up way too late last night finishing
Shattered Souls by Mary Lindsey, so it took me a while to get moving this morning -- then I got caught up in all the excitement of the
Julie Kagawa Livestream. I still had a blast in the readathon, and I might have my own personal readathon for the rest of the week since I'm in the spirit ;)
Books Read:I read half of
The Iron Knight by Julie Kagawa today, and I'll probably stay up late again finishing it. I know it wasn't on my list, but it just hit NetGalley today and I almost hyperventilated.
Mini-Challenges:Wicked Awesome Books asked us to play matchmaker with two characters from different books.
I think I would like to pair...
+
They're both kind of wild and world-weary and a little bit broken, and neither of them would hesitate to give the other a kick in the butt when it was called for.
1.
Any book: Chime by Franny Billingsley. You will never read another book like this one. It practically breathes magic and mystery and incredible language. Beautiful.
2.
Favorite from the readathon: OMG THAT IS SO HARD.
Forever by Maggie Stiefvater or
The Iron Knight by Julie Kagawa...
Forever or
Iron Knight....Maggie or Julie....BUT I LOVE THEM BOTH SO MUCH! I guess, since I haven't finished
The Iron Knight yet, I will go with
Forever by Maggie Stiefvater. But really, you should read them both.
A HUGE thank you to the ladies at Pure Imagination, Reading Angel and Candace's Book Blog for hosting this awesome readathon and inviting me to host a mini-challenge. It's been a blast!
I'll also be hosting a readathon challenge with some prizes tomorrow (Tuesday), so be sure to come back and join in the fun!
Here are the first books on deck for me:
I'll add more if I make it through those (unlikely =P).
It's not too late to sign up! Head over to the
info page to join the fun and win some prizes!
Ari and Cole would be so good for each other! :) I need to go request The Iron Knight...what am I waiting for???
I am awed by your willpower O_O I leapt out of bed and lunged for my laptop when I found out it was up yesterday morning LOL
Does look like you had a great time with the read-a-thon. ANd read some amazing books! :) Thanks and glad you enjoyed.
Thanks for participating in the Matchmaker mini challenge!!
I love Ari and even though I haven't read Linger yet, I think Cole could easily become one of my favorite werewolves. And everyone could use a good kick in the butt every once in a while :)
