1. Fabulous Kids Authors & Illustrators at SCBWI NY

Shaun Tan who had the audience standing and cheering – a fabulous Australian and world illustrator!

Mo Williams who is definitely a stand up comic

Julie Andrew who had us all humming Sounds of Music

Best selling authors including Bruce Coville, Jane Yolen, Lin Oliver and Theo Baker, Ellen Hopkins …. and more.

Susanne gervay Lin Oliver Frane Lessac, SCBWIFrane Lessac, Chris Cheng and I were there representing the Aussie and New Zealand contingent.

Our fabulous international leader Kathleen Ahrens was there from Hong Kong

The speakers were wonderful, but loved the delegates even more – from all over the USA, Europe and Asia – friends through children’s books

2. Pooh Bear and Piglet Loves SCBWI in New York

Piglet original in Winnie the Pooh in NY LibraryHaving a great time with writers and illustrators in New York.

New York is a great city with sooooo much to see.

Loved the Pooh Bear exhibition in the NY Library,

Frane signed her books in the NY Libary and Barnes & Noble.

Sharing a room with illustrator Pam Merchant South Dakoda

and Mary Cronk Farrell writer from Spokane Washington State.

Love them.

‘I felt lost…. and went inside myself’  David Small wrote ‘Stitches’ – powerful memoir and engaging wonderful picture books.

‘I like writing what entertains me’ in a joyous presentation of writing for kids – Jon Scieszka.

The talks made me laugh and cry. What a day!

4. SCBWI Misbehaves at Rottnest Retreat – Hint: Karaoke!!!!!

Excuse:

We were writing, talking, working all day

(- except for those who went to their bungalow for cheese and wine – you know who you are!!!!)

We all piled into Rottnest Lodge for dinner but what’s next was the cry from the writers and illustrators?
