A sketch from this past Easter Sunday morning. And I thought this might be of interest. A local church (Bay Area Fellowship) got a lot of press this week for their “Mega-Million Give-away”. I don’t know how much money they had tied up in prizes, as I see the numbers reported from 1-4 million. I did [...]

Sketches during Sunday school at Christ Point Church in Corpus Christi, Texas. Random thoughts: - Airport security going through customs is a bit of a bear now, but I thought they did a good job of moving things along despite the extra scanning and long lines. - My eyes burn. They’ve always burned when in South Texas. I’m [...]

Waiting in hole-in-the-wall taqueria’s…. …for food like this. That’s a sope. It’s a rare find, even in South Texas! Sunday drives in the country where you see the likes of this… And this: Whimsy on a fence post (No, I left him there)… Down town Corpus Christi at play: Pretty Sunsets:

It’s been a while since I’ve done any church sketches, but I had the opportunity to do so this weekend when I visited Christ Point in Corpus Christi, TX. Several of my good friends go here so when I’m in town, this is one of the churches I visit. The above is a mix of [...]

My father turned the very big nine-0 yesterday so I’ve been in South Texas spending time with him and other family members. So far it’s primarily just been a time of enjoying hanging out together. Today I had my first opportunity to watch my niece (who lives in Pennsylvania and came down to see her [...]
Wow! That bottom picture is amazing with the pink! I like the look of the top one, I love avocados. That is what they are isn’t it?
Wow… Just wow.
Jessie: Thanks! Yes, I loved how the sun was setting over the down town area. Of course, I played with the colors a bit. Avocodos? Yeppers! Such a good little meal, that sope!
Jazz: I’m glad you liked the pics. Thanks for letting me know!
Now I’m homesick!!
Funny, I’d not realized that the elaborate iron work fences that greeted visitors to one’s ranch were lacking here!! But, I’ve never seen a single one of these here in the Georgia countryside. My dad had many a ranch in Texas…and most often these entry gates, some windmills, and even sometimes oil rigs were scattered about.
Thanks for sharing.
As the rain pours down in buckets and the wind howls here in Vancouver…It is so yucky outside today, I find it a relief and a delight to see your hot sunny photos of a place I have never been to. And that avocado creation looks soooo delicious. Thanks Paula for posting these pics. Very nice indeed. You have cheered up at least one sun deprived person.
Thanks so much, Mary Jane! Sorry to hear it’s been so dismal in Vancouver. I’m in Montreal now, and though it’s sunny presently, it’s too cold for shorts and slaps (my uniform when in South Texas). These photos, too, will help keep me warm on the cold, snowy days!
Oh yes…. that is Texas! …and it’s still warm here too!
