Open Road Integrated Media recruited a group of authors to perform readings of some “mean reviews” they have received. These critiques were sourced from Amazon and Goodreads.
The video embedded above features the following writers: William Hjortsberg, Alan Jacobson, Sarah Zettel, and Eric Van Lustbader. How do you handle negative criticism?
Author Andi Buchanan worked with a Swedish musician and YouTube star to craft original music for her upcoming enhanced eBook.
Here’s more from the release: “Andi had written more than 40 percent of the book when she contacted and started collaborating with Swedish musician and YouTube sensation FreddeGredde. Together they developed the book’s soundtrack including two original songs: ‘Don’t Look Back’ and ‘This Falling World,’ lyrics written by Andi and music composed by Fredde.”
The book will be Open Road Integrated Media’s first original young-adult enhanced eBook. Buchanan’s Gift comes out on March 27th, priced at $16.99.
“So in the end you can’t even really regret your misfortunes,” explains [Alice] Walker, “because they led you somewhere.”
Laura De Silva from Open Road Integrated Media sent me this uplifting e-mail. Normally, marketing e-mails don’t move me emotionally, but this one did.
Hi Amy,
I hope all is well! I’m writing because today Open Road Integrated Media is releasing three ebooks by Alice Walker. I’ve pasted the full release below―titles include The Color Purple, The Temple of My Familiar, and Possessing the Secret of Joy. We couldn’t be more thrilled.
For the launch, we interviewed Ms. Walker, and I wanted to share with you the short, documentary-quality video we produced―it’s incredibly inspiring. (My favorite quote from the video: “So in the end you can’t even really regret your misfortunes,” explains Walker, “because they led you somewhere.”)
Newbery Award winner Patricia MacLachlan (pictured, via) has signed up with Albert Whitman & Company to write a prequel for Gertrude Chandler Warner‘s popular kidlit series, The Boxcar Children.
The not-yet-titled project will be released in September 2012 for the 70-year anniversary of the book’s debut. An eBook version will be published simultaneously from Open Road Integrated Media.
MacLane gave this quote in the press release: “Henry, Jessie, Violet, and Benny are kind to one another and embody the true sense of family. They are resourceful and positive. I find them both true children and true heroes at the same time. It occurs to me that perhaps their parents were the same. I’m looking forward to exploring that idea and more.”
