1. One-Off vs. Series

What am I reading now? The Red Pyramid by Rick Riordan

Sequels. Trilogies. Series. It seems that a majority of the books being published today fall into one of these three categories. A quick glance at your bookstore shelf is all the proof you’ll need.

As I expressed in an earlier post, The Ending, I completely understand what fuels the sequels, trilogies and series of today. I have been lucky enough to read both Harry Potter and The Hunger Games. I wouldn’t trade either reading experience for anything. But what about the one-offs?

There are some truly magnificent one-offs that will leave you in awe. So, don’t miss out. The next time you head to the bookstore consider purchasing a one-off. You never know, you may just end up with an all-time favourite.
