1. Goop Press to Be Launched in April 2016

goop (GalleyCat)The teams at Grand Central Life & Style, a Grand Central Publishing imprint, and goop, a digital publication focused on lifestyle content, have formed a new imprint called goop press. Goop was founded by Oscar-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow and currently headed by CEO Lisa Gersh.

According to the press release, “acquisitions and editorial decisions will be made by a team of goop editors, including founder and curator Paltrow, CEO Gersh, and editorial director Elise Loehnen, with Grand Central Life & Style’s VP, editorial director Karen Murgolo.” The staff at goop press plan to release “one goop-branded book” and three other projects on a yearly basis.

In April 2016, a new cookbook by Paltrow entitled It’s All Easy: Delicious Weekday Recipes for the Super-Busy Home Cook will be published. Paltrow had this statement about this new venture: “With so much incredible content now being produced at goop.com on a daily basis, we’re excited to memorialize it for audiences across the world.”

3. Ellen DeGeneres Inks Deal With Grand Central Publishing

EllenTalk show host Ellen DeGeneres (pictured, via) has landed a deal with Grand Central Publishing to write a book about interior design.

According to the press release, “DeGeneres, who has bought and renovated over a dozen properties, most recently launched a line of home goods on QVC and will launch Ellen’s Design Challenge, a new show on HGTV, in January of 2015.” Home will be released in Fall 2015.

Deb Futter, the editor-in-chief of hardcovers at the imprint, negotiated the deal with Esther Newberg, a literary agent of ICM Partners. Karen Murgolo, editorial director of Grand Central Life & Style, will edit the manuscript.

4. Mario Batali To Publish Two Cookbooks at Grand Central

Celebrity chef Mario Batali has inked a book deal for two new cookbooks.

Hachette Book Group’s Grand Central Life & Style imprint will publish the book, but Batali had previously published a number of books with HarperCollins Ecco imprint. Tony Gardner of Gardner Literary negotiated the deal and editorial director Karen Murgolo acquired the book in an auction.

The first book will come out in fall 2014, co-written with Washington Post writer Jim Webster–recipes focusing on “farmers and their top products in 12 American states.”
