How will author George R.R. Martin make sure that the Game of Thrones HBO series won’t catch up with him?
As fans of A Song of Ice and Fire know, Martin will pen two more installments to wrap up his popular book series. In an interview with Vanity Fair, the writer explained that the forthcoming fourth season is actually based on the second half of book three A Storm of Swords.
Should Game of Thrones continue in the future, Martin will consult with creators D.B. Weiss and David Benioff to split books four and five, A Feast for Crows and A Dance with Dragons, to prolong its story. He also noted other popular TV shows, Mad Men and Breaking Bad, did not suffer from a “hiatus inserted in the middle of the final season” so that is another option.

The New York Times has started a “serendipitous poetry”-themed tumblr blog called ”Times Haiku.”
A team of computer programmers developed a special algorithm that scans the publication’s articles and subsequently generates haikus.
You can read haikus derived from different NYT pieces, including an article on carrot purée, a profile on stand-up comedian Colin Quinn, and a special Q&A with the Game of Thrones TV series creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. According to Shelf Life, this blog may continue on even after the end of this month.

Chronicle Books will publish the official companion to the Game of Thrones television series, Inside HBO’s Game of Thrones. Unlike most book trailers, this video visited the set of a popular TV show.
As of this writing, the trailer has received more than 36,000 views. The $40 book will be released on October 1st, containing 300 color images and photographs.
Series screenwriter Bryan Cogman write the book. Showrunner David Benioff partnered with screenwriter D.B. Weiss for the foreword. Series author George R.R. Martin also wrote a preface.
