Sales: 4 (sort of) - 3 were sales, and one was a FTL reprint, but I'm counting it (especially as so many wonderful people read it).
Publications: 3 (Necrotic Tissue, Sand & Flashes in the Dark)
Approx Word Count: (note to self - where's my calculator) 3066 words ahem! Excuse imminent
Total Word Count 2009: 122,961 words
Stories out in submission land: No comment
WIP: The Drawing of Dolls - 11,611 words (not counted in months count), The Horrifiques - 1045 words.
One flash story - Playing Card Walls - and one short story - Empty Box Motel - this month. I completed a rewrite of my first MG, 'Lucy Baxter and the Evil Emporium' and then upon finishing decided I hated it. There was no stomping on the manuscript only a hurricane enducing sigh. I then settled down (again) to work on my YA, The Horrifiques, only for Lucy Baxter to persuade me ,with a new title and an even darker, creepier slant, she would work well as a YA/novella, so I'm currently 11,611 words into that. We still don't know if we're YA, horror novella, or weird-unpublishable time waster, and Lucy insists her name is really Claudia.
In other news, check out Stuart Neville's fantastic competition to win a signed copy of his debut novel, The Twelve along with a limited edition signed copy of his short story collection, The Six. I'm in.

I couldn't resist giving Northern Haunts one more go before it closes and YAY! I got an acceptance from Tim this afternoon for 'The Restoration of Purple Curtains & Other Things' - YAY! again. So I now have two stories in the anthology. I need to order some copies but my paypal account is empty and I'm deliberating whether to fill it up (it takes 10 days - groan!) or to just wait and order some copies from Amazon.
Now for a NAY! (Is that a word???) Hand Scratched Note was rejected this morning by Potter's Field. :( I've shaved 500 words off it and ended it where I originally thought it should end (I needed to get it over a 2000 word hurdle) and I think it makes it a wee bit stronger.
And to pick the mood back up again, I got a hold request from 'The Morrigan'. Keeping my fingers crossed for that one.
I've been a total slacker today and have wasted the afternoon watching The Amityville Horror. Mid movie I had an idea for another children's book - and you know how it goes, that idea screams 'write me' but you have to give it the finger because you're already stuck in the middle of two other books.
Anyhow, here's the tally on how things stand with my 17 day plan.

If you haven't read the free .pdf of The Six you are missing out. Very good.
Quite a good month there Cate. Keep it up!
I've only just discovered, Mr. Neville. I'm always late to the party (or in this case arrived just in time to raise a glass of champagne).
You are one madly productive woman! That's very impressive. Congrats on the sales :)
Thanks, Cory. It's all smoke and mirrors.
A nice month indeed. No comment on the stories out in submission land?
*scratches head*
I've been in lazy mode and every time one has been rejected I've kind of left it my inbox. Two are winging their way out into the world tomorrow (waiting for them to reopen).
Yes, congrats on all of that. I still await my copy of NT so I can admire your name on the glossy cover.
It definitely counts : )
Sales are good. Congrats for June.
Looks awesome to me, man! You always set these posts up like they're something to be ashamed of, but you always kick ass.
Then again, if we're not hard on ourselves, who will be? Anyhow, well done you!
Alan, I gaze at it hourly. ;)
Natalie, I think so too.
Thanks, Danielle.
Katey, the problem is, I'm aware of how much I should have done with the time available.
I loved June. June was good.
Strangely, I think this is the first June I have every disliked. Rock on, July.
what? reprints count! 4 sales! the woman is a miracle! :^)
Hey, congrats on the sales.
I can't believe you keep track of your total yearly /monthly word count. I think I'd fall into a deep depression and try to overdose on tic tacs and chocolate milk if I kept track.
Amazing word counts woman - you are an inspiration, now back to my manuscript.
Samantha, it's a miracle. I agree with that. ;)
Onipar, I'm a slave to numbers.
Keep working, Kim.
Excellent month! Reprints count as sales for sure.
