“Z-bot to LadyStar personnel. This is a Gamepowa Video Alert. Hana is relaying B Comsat on channel 074 Alpha. Standing by to transmit. Confirm reception of channel identifier.”
“What did he say?”
“Whoa, Z-bot, this is like mission control city. Where’s the Professor?”
“I don’t know, do you?”
“I’ll go find her!”
“Standing by to transmit. Confirm reception of channel identifier.”
“Hold on, errr… or something. Think of something astronaut to say.”
“How about stand by?”
“Stand by Z-bot.”
“Standing by.”
“Sweet. This is like some kind of science fiction carnival or something. Goofy!”
“I found Talitha-chan!”
“Oh my goodness… what’s going on?”
“Quick Professor, make with some of that computer stuff you do with the clicking and the internets and the web pages.”
“Hana is relaying B Comsat on channel 074 Alpha. Standing by to transmit. Confirm reception of channel identifier.”
“hmmm..”
“What is she typing?”
“Ooh, I hope it’s more unicorns.”
“Z-bot, B station confirms channel identifier. Standing by to receive transmission on Comsat 074 Alpha.”
“We got a LadyStar champ too and his name is Michael!”
“Yep, aced it. Five for five.”
“Now Talitha-chan gots all the answers ’cause she’s the smartest girl in our whole school! Did you know that Talitha-chan has a computer that she programmed all by herself? She even showed me how to make unicorns my wallpaper on my computer time at school!”
“She’s programmer girl.”
“Hi Jessica. Hi Ranko.”
“Okay what were all the answers so we can make our quiz all official and stuff?”
“Okay for question one, wildflowers grow alongside the walkway at your house.”
“Right! My mom loves her wildflowers.”
“Question Two, Cici found the Chronicler’s Lantern in Collins Park near the topiary and statues of forest animals. The closest statue was a deer.”
“Good thing Little Bit found that lantern or the Ajan Warriors would have been sunk pretty quick.”
“I know the third one! Our band room is number 74! I know that ’cause I almost got lost on the first day and Dr. Strings helped me find it. He’s a nice man. I want to take science classes where he’s the teacher ’cause he knows lots of stuff about science.”
“Question Four, we found the Goldenwood Shield in the Venom Deeps in talisman form.”
“Then the Professor got the POWA and zap zap zappity! The baddies were toast.”
*giggle*
“Question Five, The LadyStar fought the Vulture Crest at a place called Kulnas Forge.”
“Yeah, that dream was super scary too.”
“There you have it folks. We’re going to do quizzes for all of our Ten Update days, so if you missed this one, study up, read all the chapters and you’ll be ready for the next one. Maybe you can be a LadyStar champ!”
“Yeah! Ja ne minna-san!”
“Oh, and don’t forget to VOTE! Over there on the left side of all pages at the top. Only takes a second. We’d like to hear what you think!”
“Okay, the rules are pretty simple. We’re going to put up five questions, and if you want to answer, you just add a comment on this article. We’ll put up the answers on Monday of next week, so you’ve got the weekend to study.”
“All the answers are in our books, so if you read up and you’re a good studier like me, you’ll know the answers!”
“Okay, Alanna-sama asks the first question.”
“Question Number One: What kind of flowers grow alongside the walkway in front of Jessica’s house?”
“Ooh, good question.”
“Cici gots the second question.”
“Yeah! Okay Question Number Two: Where was I when I first found the Chronicler’s Lantern and what was nearby?”
“Talitha-chan gets question number three.”
“Question Number Three: What is the room number of the Tree Shores High School Band Room?”
“Ranko-chan gets question number four.”
“Question Number Four: What treasure did we get from the big demon monsters in Palace in the Sky?”
“And I get Question Number Five: In the Legend of the LadyStar, where did the battle against the Vulture Crest take place?”
“There you go folks. If you get all five right, you’re a certified LadyStar champ! Don’t forget to vote!”
And it shall come to pass
that a gentle voice shall be heard
in the Golden Wood
Telling tales of wonder
and guarded by the Living Forest
“Let’s hear it for the PROFESSOR!”
“Woohoo!”
“It’s Talitha-chan! And she’s got some of the bestest powers of all. Her treasure is the Goldenwood Shield, which is the only treasure that we got that’s actually alive just like a real tree!”
“In Palace in the Sky, Hayashi fought that demon in the Venom Deeps that was casting fire spells at us.”
“But the Warrior of the Forest can call on plants and trees to fight for her and she zapped those baddies for us. Tough fight.”
“I think she’s going to get some new powers in Call of the Huntress too, and one of them is called ‘Autumn Canopy.’”
“Ooh, that’s a pretty name. I wonder what it does?”
“So go check out Forest Girl’s page and get all attuned with flowers and gardens and all that good stuff. Say a few words, Professor.”
“She’s real shy and stuff, but Talitha-chan is our best friend and we’re glad she’s a warrior just like us! Ja ne minna-san!”
“Okay, you’ve got to tell us what’s going on here because I’m about to go ultra batty.”
“What are you now?”
“Very funny.”
“heheee…”
“Oh my goodness…”
“Everywhere we look in our server stuff like where it tells us what people are searching for we keep seeing the same question. Even Space Girl is getting this all the time. It’s got to have something to do with that High School Musical review we did.”
“Yeah, it’s not an official-like Jessie’s Letters question but it’s sorta a question cause people are always asking it.”
“What’s the question?”
“Once and for all: Are Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens engaged?”
“I don’t have the foggiest clue.”
“Well there you have it folks. GOODNIGHT EVERYBODY!”
“What?”
“Sometimes I wonder about you people. I truly do.”
“Okay boys and girls, it’s voting time again. Professor Planet over here has installed a new poll and this one should be interesting. Right over there on the left side of every page: crimson background, nice, gold lettering, nice. Buttons for each answer and a button to vote.”
“Ooh, there’s seven answers. Let’s see, there’s a message board, and a shoutbox, and more blog comments.”
“What’s a shout box?”
“That’s a little window where anyone can type a short message any time they want. It’s really simple and fast.”
“We should bring back the Character Book. That thing rocked. We had like 500 signatures or something.”
“Shannon-sama! Shannon-sama! Looky what Talitha-chan found! Hurry! Looky! It’s another video alert just like Gamepowa got!”
“Okay, okay, what did Hayashi find?”
“We were looking for music videos and found some pretty good ones.”
“Nice combo. That’s Tom Scott on tenor isn’t it?”
“Yeah! I got the CD with that same chart on it! I like how he uses the A-flat and B-flat keys to get those muted notes. I wish I could get those on tenor too. I can play them on alto, though. Did you see? The drummer has a drumset just like Leila-sama’s!”
“Jessica says Tom Scott wrote a television theme song.”
“Yeah?”
“He wrote the theme from Starsky and Hutch! It’s on one of his albums, and it’s on his ‘Best Of’ album too with Rock Island Rocket.”
“Wow, you’re really a big jazz fan, huh?”
“Jazz is the best, and I’m gonna learn all of Tom Scott’s solos ’cause they’re the best too.”

“Hey Professor, I’ve always wanted to know something. Why is our site set up like a blog instead of some other type of site?”
“Well, a blog gives us a way to categorize our updates, and to arrange them in order. We can also publish a feed to other sites so they can publish our updates too. Our feed uses the RSS format, so most browsers can list our updates in their bookmarks menu in real time. Our readers can also comment on each article.”
“I guess that does make good sense. We have a ton of updates around here, that’s for sure.”
“We’ve had over 300 updates so far, not counting the pages or chapter lists.”
“Whoa. That’s two tons of updates. Grab those RSS feeds folks! This site gets busier by the minute! We’re out!”
“That’s straight up Amy Lee from Evanescence, playing the guitar and singing about cartoons! What? Who? Where? What portal did we walk through this time?”
“It’s a LadyStar Video Alert! I got Talitha-chan to find us a fun video to put up so we could have a video alert like Acey-san!”
“Yeah it’s a LadyStar video alert. You savvy?”
“Ha! We’ve gone officially out of our own tree!”
“Heheheeee… see? We can do videos just like Gamepowa ’cause we got Talitha-chan and she’s super-smart about computers just like Acey-san!”
“That is just too cool for words. Rock on, Amy! Rock on, Professor! Rock on, LadyStar Video Alerts! We are OUT!”
“Hi everybody! It’s meeee! Our new site is gonna be one year old in a couple of months, and so I got aaaaall my friends to help me make a list of all our favorite articles from since we started the new site! First we got Irina-san who is gonna start the countdown!”
“That was the beginning of the big Pluto controversy on the big site here. Like I always say, if other people don’t want Pluto, we’ll take it. It’s always a planet here.”
“Yeah! Okay, the number nine best article we did is by Daphne-chan!”
“And we never put onions on a pizza ’cause Alanna-sama says so! Okay, now for the three best updates. Tara-san is going to tell us about number three.”
“Looky at the new link that we got! It’s from our cheetah article from yesterday!”
“This link is to one of the most popular organizations that helps wild cheetahs.”
“Yeah it’s called the Cheetah Conservation Foundation and they got lots of neat stuff about big cats that go real fast! We’re gonna put up some more neat links soon. Ja minna!”
“Ooh! Looky we got a new theme for our site, huh? Talitha-chan is so smart. I wish I could make web sites ’cause I’d have one with unicorns everywhere and then I’d have super-cool jazz music in the background and I’d have all my friends write about neat stuff and we’d have a zillion million people visit all the time.”
“I can’t wait to see what you do if we open another site or something.”
“Jessie always says something happy!”
*giggle*
“I thought this would make the site a little simpler and make it easier to find the story pages.”
“We got a big giant button that goes to the first book now that’s on all the pages too!”
“Yay! We should have a button for the second book ’cause that’s when I get my powers and I make shields when we fight those cold shadow monsters in the Venom Deeps.”
“Pretty nice upgrade, Hayashi.”
“Talitha-chan is the best at web sites and stuff!”
“Okay this is super-important everyone. Since I’m in charge of our LadyStar Gift Shop I want to announce that we’re getting ready to adopt an official charity.”
“Yeah. We’ve been planning this for a while and we’re just about ready to present the page with all the information. If you visit often, you’ve probably already figured out where we’ll be donating.”
“It makes all the sense in the world. If we’re going to have a real business, then its important that we give something back, and I want to donate to lots of different causes, especially ones that help animals.”
“We should give to an Earth Day one too for Talitha-chan ’cause that’s her birthday!”
“Oh, my goodness…”
“We should also consider a children’s literacy charity. After all, our stories are books.”
“Good point.”
“I wanna give donations to Commander Acey and her robot on the Gamepowa site ’cause she has lots of fun video games!”
“That’s a very nice thought, Cici, but Gamepowa isn’t a charity. What we want to do most is help people who might not have as much as we do, or people who can’t really help themselves.”
“I want us to help lots of people.”
“Me too!”
“Cici’s got a point there. We should get Gamepowa in on the action. They could probably help us a lot.”
“I’m on it. I figure Commander Acey will put together a sweet space-age galactic high-technology plan.”
“You guys are the best, you know that?”
“Yeah, we know.”
“Heheheeee… watch our site minna! We’ll have lots more exciting information real soon! Ja!”
“Could someone please explain what that was just now?”
“I call them Doofus Disasters. She runs through the room giggling about something and then when you ask her later what she was so happy about she doesn’t know what you’re talking about.”
“I got something in the e-mail and it’s about Hikousen!”
“Hoshi, what are you talking about?”
“I got e-mail on Jessie’s Letters and they said how to get Hikousen to stop sleeping on your math book.”
“This should be good. What did they say?”
“They said to get Cici-chan to help and maybe she can make Hikousen sleep somewhere else!”
“Of course. That could work!”
“Little Bit! Help!”
“Hi Ranko!”
“Here’s the deal. You gotta get ferocious guard cat to stop sleeping on Miss Shannon’s books, got it?”
“Okay Ranko! Come on Hikousen, let’s go get something to eat.”
mwrowr?
“He meowed!”
“Yay! Hikousen listens to Cici-chan!”
“I got my math book back!”
“Oh yeah, I knew it all along.”
“O Rly?”
“Heheheeee.. Thanks for helping everyone! You’re the best! Ja ne!”
“Okay I’m gonna make an announcement about a really super neat site that has been one of our bestest friends, ’cause they told all their readers about our books and stuff, and they’ve got a great site for girls too.”
“Solid. Talk to me.”
“It’s a site called Girls Can’t What?, and it’s a blog just like ours except it has stories about all kinds of girls and women who do all kinds of neat stuff. Like right now they got a story about a girl who won a surfing competition.”
“Hey Leila, check it out. The author plays drums.”
“Nice.”
“They even got a store with t-shirts and stuff just like Shannon-sama, except all their shirts are for girls. Let’s see, they got one with a girl ship captain, and one with a girl veterinarian, and one with a girl as a singer, and lots of other ones too.”
“Alright, now this is about the coolest thing I’ve ever seen before, and I’ve seen a lot of cool stuff. Like icy cool stuff with extra snow and snowflakes and little pieces of snowcone sprinkled on it.”
“That’s pretty cool, you know.”
“Freezing.”
“What is it, Ranko-chan?”
“It’s called the Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls. It’s a summer camp for a week where girls learn how to play musical instruments and run sound equipment. They learn how to write music, form bands and perform their own songs.”
“Realleeeeee? Ooh ooh ooh! We have to go! We all have to go and play!”
“Wow, you can learn to run soundboards too. Pretty neat. They got bands with horn sections?”
“Well, if they don’t they’d learn about fat horn sound pretty quick if we showed up.”
“Heh.”
“This is super neat, Ranko-chan! Ooh, looky! It’s named after Big Mama Thornton. I’ve heard lots of her music. She is the best! She was one of the first women ever to sing rock and roll.”
“This is one righteous camp. What a great idea.”
“I’ll add a link to our Fun Places to Visit list.”
“Hooray for Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls!”
“Hey, here’s a shout out from all of us here at the Magical and Mysterious World of LadyStar. Rock on, ladies. Rock on.”
