27. New work!

Since about May of this year I've discovered a love for abstracts and have been cranking them out like crazy since then. So far I've got about 64 of them. (More if you count the different versions of one image) You can check out more of them and purchase if you like here: http://www.imagekind.com/GalleryProfile.aspx?gid=97e5fe65-5006-4c0e-9745-c778120eb248
Enjoy the rest of the summer.

28. Graphic Novel sketch

Here's a first draft of some ideas from the beginning of my graphic novel. It's quite different from this but you have to start somewhere. Check out my blog from time to time to see postings from the GN!

29. Cat Tree

The sketch was done as a doodle in a meeting. The painting was done several months later after a bit of a debate in my head whether the painting would do the doodle justice. It never hurts to give it a try.

30. NEW Abstracts!

I know I haven't posted in a while. I was in the process of finishing up a contract with Microsoft. Then summer hit and I was out bike riding and kayaking. It's been cloudy and rainy all week so I've been spring cleaning. (No where close to being finished) And I've been creating about 30 or 40 Abstracts. Here are three of them. I've got more on Image Kind for sale. ( http://MikeCressy.imagekind.com/) Let me know what you think.

33. A new Painting!

A blast from the past in a way. I actually finished this painting in March of this year but haven't shown it yet.
This was done from a sketchbook page dating back to July of 2006. Holly and I were at a park in Bellevue on the 4th taking it easy and enjoying the day with a picnic. I brought my sketchbook and she brought a book to read. When I was almost finished with the sketch I asked her what she thought and she said, "Can you put a little white scoty dog in one of the squares?" I did just that and promised her that if I ever made a painting of this that I would include the little white dog. And there it is the lower right corner.

34. Nick out for a stroll

Don't tell my older brother but this is a painting about him. Well, what he looked like as a kid. He was a 40 year old accountant in a 10 year old's body. Yeah, there were still some of these old cars around when we were kids. Not many but a few.
Now he works for home land security and looks like an older accountant general.

35. Gumby and a possible date...

This is an older sketch from a few sketchbooks ago. Like Gumby I've been feeling a bit intimidated lately when asking out women. Getting back into the dating world isn't something I really wanted to be doing, however, like everyone else I'd like to be with someone. It ain't easy. So if I make a few mistakes and fumble, know that there is someone much more confident behind that nervous smile.
Haven't we all been there one time or another. I can shake off rejection like a dog shakes off water but that doesn't mean it still doesn't hurt a bit.
Anyway, I hope to get past the Gumby stage soon.
Peace, out!

36. The Punk and The Preppy

Is or isn't it true the opposites attract? What would a Preppy and a Punker have in common except their love for one another?

37. Super Bowl

I'm not a big sports fan these days. So much of it just turns me cold. I still like to see a good game from time to time but I don't go out of my way for it. Here's an old (12 years old) illustration I did for a magazine that has a football theme to it. I don't have some of the other football illustrations scanned into the computer for some odd reason. Perhaps some day when I have way too much extra time on my hands and not enough stuff to do. Enjoy Superbowl Sunday!!

38. Nice to have friends...

Yeah I know it was a corny and the last 4-5 years mostly terrible show but hey, friends are important. So enjoy your friends.
This is a really old illustration I did for a magazine (the name slips from my memory) a long long time ago.

39. Yaozie, Yummy!

Ok, A little over the top here. I've never been attracted to the Audrey Hepburn type. Too skinny. I like her movies though.
Hope everyone is well.
Hey don't forget to check out my NEW Art book "Monito Hermoso" (Mike Cressy) on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Powells and your local bookseller! I'll sign a copy for you if you buy it and leave a nice note on Amazon.

41. Educated guess...

And you thought priests were the only ones peddling smut...
I did this for Playboy magazine a few years back. I think I did 5 pieces of art for them over a few years. I don't really do this style anymore. I thought it fit the SFG topic well.
Come to my blog to see other blasts from the past and NEW doodles.

43. Memorial birthday Art for Holly McClure

The two bears I painted for one of Holly's Xmas presents 2006. The Profile of the woman was one of her favorites that I painted. The hip couple was always looked at by friends as being Holly and me. RIP sweetie!
I'll be playing a few hours of pool (Her favorite game outside of Scrabble) in her memory this evening at The Garage in Seattle on Capital Hill. Come by and say hello if you in the neighborhood.

Since 2003 I've thought of Bush as an angry chimp leading the crusades,... so here's my sketch of that.

45. Slo-Mo politics

This is how I feel about politicians who don't do their job and spend all their time on the campaign trail pandering, pandering and pandering... How about some new way to do this?

Attack of the giant porcelain thingy... I can't remember the name of this statue, but I did think it was fun to draw it as a godzilla type of monster.

47. Monster Card fronts and back...

I've done a lot of card decks over the years for computer games and this is part of a deck I did for Sierra Online Hoyle Card Games back in the day. Since my last name starts with a "C",... pretty much anything I post falls under that heading, right?
