It's thundering here and raining down a classic Arizona monsoon. Ahhh. It's kinda nice, although I'm on the computer in the middle of it. Stubborn mule. Anyhow, here's a sketch on my new notebook. It's got great rough handmade pages with a smooth feel to it though for drawing. I'm a doodle queen! I love the ZEBRA Sarasa pens. They rock. And tree. Sorry, I'm in a mood.
Last night had a great Passions class. The teacher lent me a great book about finding your true colors--a key to who you are are. I'm a GREEN-BLUE--the visionary researchers of the world who want to help everyone. For the exercise in class we needed to pick our values from a list and the verbs we like doing. Here's what I wrote:
from the values list:
creativity, imagination and ideas, independence, freedom, knowledge/wisdom, empathy and spirituality, self-understanding and relationships
from the natural skills list:
consulting, diagnosing, analyzing, designing, developing, generating ideas, problem-solving, inventing, learning, observing, researching, writing, creating, communicating ideas, acknowledging others, building self esteem, teaching, inspiring, helping, guiding and enlightening.
It's a cool book. This simple exercise has helped me a great deal. Here's the website. Go find your colors in the quiz.

I was sitting at my computer with The View airing on my television. Yes, shame on me, I do keep the TV on while I work. Cyndi Lauper, one of my favorite musical artists, was being interviewed. She spoke about the impact of her song True Colors, and of all the people who contacted her to share their stories. This song has touched hearts, given people strength, and helped heal wounds. I stopped typing as I watched Cyndi talk about how this has affected her, and I realized that what she has achieved with her song is exactly what we hope to achieve as writers. As artists it is easy to diminish our importance in the bigger world - but acknowledging and honoring the human spirit through our music and words is important, in fact essential.
Cyndi then performed True Colors, and I was mesmerized but the lyrics that I have heard countless times. For those of us who struggle with our own artistic journeys, these are words of wisdom.
Don't be afraid to let them show
your true colors
true colors are beautiful
like a rainbow
Have a wonderful weekend – let your colors show!
Hi Rooni,
I took the quiz and my primary is Blue and my secondary is Gold. It pretty much sums me up. Thanks for the link.
