The Big Duck or Duck House
My submission for Illustration Friday's "pale" theme.
Location: Along Rt.24 North of Rt. 27 by 1.25 miles. On the west side of the road.Suffolk County-NYLatitude: N40 degrees 53.28Longitude: W72 degrees 33.44. I have painted this duck house before here as a daytime piece. I made this one that resembles how the people of Suffolk decorate the duck at holiday time.

"Good manners are a combination of intelligence, education, taste and style mixed together so that you don't need any of those things." -P.J. O'Rourke, Modern Manners, 1984
For I.F. this week, here is one of my new little paintings, with an opinion to go with it.

I saw the EDM Challenge 162: Draw Your Breakfast. I had it in front of me ... a giant green cup of soothing hot tea. I also had a pre-cut ATC sized card next to me. Add them altogether and the result is the drawing above!
I've obviously been in a bit of a wonky mood lately and seem intent on ignoring the laws of perspective. That's fine, I had fun :)

I finally photographed the ATC I won from Debbie Egizio. I love it! She even decorated the envelope. I feel so lucky to have won this small gem. I collect small, handmade art, so it's perfect for my collection. Inside the heart it says, "Your heart draws true happiness". On the card it says, "Sing and your heart will smile". Thank you Debbie. As part of the contest, I agreed to spread the love. I am working on three ATCs which I will auction off here. Details to follow.

My newest ATC, I got the Valentine's Bug and started with something pink and it all fell into place...though the idea and theme isn't really romantic or anything!

I made this today, and it is my very first ATC. I used a stamp for the deer that was made from one of my illustrations, and I also used other various materials.

Thanks, Gis, for also awarding me the You Make My Day Award. (We are afterall bird-related, check out her cute birdies!) Here is a wonderful opportunity to give some shout outs to all the blogger friends I 've made and some recent goodies I've received over the mail:
A package from Zari- I was so blown away with the personalized notebook (I love that chicken with my initials on it!) and all the other goodies! Her work is even more amazing to look at in real life. Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness, Zari:
I wish I had more time to participate over at Monday Artday ATC, but I was still getting some wonderful ATCs. Some recent ones:
Top left: A Halloween Cutie from Jeff Brame- He is incredible with making so many great ATCs to trade! Thanks, Jeff!
Top Right: Bearuh sent this as a surprise, a kawaii donut, whats not to love?
Bottom: Fatburger and Shake from JC, she did this one especially for me since I told her I loved drawings of food!
Thank you guys! Cluck Cluck!

JacketFlap tags: tutorial, atc, moony, transition, Add a tag
I was browsing around for examples of character design when I happened across this great illustrator on ConceptArt. So I checked out her blog and put a watch on her Deviantart account. <_< No, I'm not a stalker... I really liked her stuff. So anyway, on her blog she has this tutorial. Well, being as I'm trying out new things, I figured, why not?
Well, this is the result. A lot more practice and maybe I can get it to look as good as hers. I think next time I'll use a larger sized drawing... ATC size probably isn't good to practice on. o_O
You should really go check out more of Steph Laberis' stuff! ^_^
Anyhow, I was going to do something else for transition but I think this is more truth for me... I am going through some transitions in my art. I hope you all enjoy my learning process. lol

I'm so excited! I won a handmade ATC (Artist Trading Card) from Debbie Egizio. She's an artist with an adorable little shop in Naperville, IL. I love the door of her shop. I'm really into entryways/doors. Her shop is called The Beat of my Art. I love to collect small, handmade art and objects. I started collecting small things for practical reasons, but found that I'm really drawn to the size, as well.

Drew this two days ago but am not happy with it at all. Almost didn't post it but I decided that I'd keep up with my decision to post everything including errors on my part! So here it is.
I'm absolutely exhausted, I've had 2-3 days of hard cleaning and clearing up to do and I have guests staying with me for the New Year which is wonderful. Doesn't leave much time for drawing though, but I'm sure I'll squeeze another one in very soon.

That is so sweet of kj, she is a real doll.
I can't blame people for buying your work immediately. Your work is amazing. If you ever decide to sell one hair off your head though, please let me know as I would never let a piece of you go to just anyone.
Your painting and uplifting award are so wonderful, but I am so sure that whoever bought it is enjoying it too. So that is a good thing.
It is funny that you ask how I am today. I was at the hospital for treatment of my bones and am quite sore today. I am a huge baby today.
I need a healer like you.]
Love Renee xoxo
You know, there is something to be said about having to think and act fast. No time to second-guess and it usually has great results. And this is just so creative and so fun!!!

Thanks again for creating the uplifting award. I enjoyed getting it and giving it away. So lovely.
It doesn't matter when you post. Happy Cactus Monday anyway. I can't wait to see who hatches. Could it be a crow? Raven? Wrens or Woodpeckers?? Such excitement.
Pretty, lively sketch! Love the colors and the idea that someone new will be there soon. Who could it be?
Sorry to be late dropping by Lolo.

Laurel, how is it that you make a comment so beautiful. I think it is because you are so beautiful.
How come you had a hard day yesterday.
Have you broken the news to your clients yet?
When you move that will be a very hard day for them indeed.
Love you.
Renee xoxoxo
A perfect place to nest. I see so many places where they put up these metalic spines to discourage birds from nesting in the city, but the birds have learned to use the pokey things...they actually serve to anchor the nests, and give the birds something to attach and weave their grasses to. Bravo to the birds. And for the cities I have no sympathy. I've chosen my side, and it's for the birds!
